Its official...we're fooked.

As we opened the blinds this morning we saw that Rigi, Pilatus and Grosser Mythen all had snow on them down to about 1500m.
Hours later...the snow was still there and I think it just started snowing again. I checked back into my records and saw that the first 1500m snowfall did not happen until mid October last year. Global warming my ass.

Please utilize this winter preparedness checklist to ensure a safe and orderly transition into winter:
  1. Ensure that you have enough fondue fuel to make it though the winter;
  2. Everyone should book their tickets to Crete on EZ-jet right now. Recommended length of stay is three-five months or longer in order to avoid the darkness we had last year;
  3. Its time to pay the garage 1,000 CHFs to rotate the winter tires. For an extra 300 chuffs you can possible convince someone at the shop to smile and say thank you for your business;
  4. Get all of your black colored clothing out. 'Tis the season to show the public just how dead we are inside during the winter;
  5. Start to cry...a lot. We'll all miss the sun.

Already done. Sadly only for one week. Hmm. I suppose I don't have to come back.

During the Winter, I had convinced myself, that I would swim 5 months straight through the Summer; sadly it didn't happen.. Not Even Once!

Re: Its official...we're fooked.

Im getting worried now! We are moving from the UAE to Basel in a couple of weeks' time - the serious lack of sunshine is not something that we've been worrying about - until now!

To be honest, we're actually looking forward to not breaking into a sweat every time we step out of the front door so hopefully this winter will be quite a novelty for us!

Re: Its official...we're fooked.

I guess that I am the only one who is looking forward to winter.

Good points:

1- Fondue.
2- Raclette.
3- Snow.
4- Skiing.
5- Snowboarding.
6- Winter nights, weekends, realaxing in and cooking nice warm soups or currys. Enjoy with a movie.
7- Sleep just gets better in winter.
8- Gluhwine.
9- Winter vacations in the mountains- Zermatt.
10- Hot chocolate.
11- X-mas.

I am sure there a lot more.

I move from the UAE to here, about a year a half ago. It was Winter then, and I I was in Basel too.

Good luck

Do catch up. It's called climate change, and weather intensity (i.e. more snow earlier) is the metaphorical pudding.

Can't wait for more

All of which is fine... when it's not for nine months of the year.

Just had my first bowl of porridge for the winter... yummy! Though I could have waited a few more months if summer wanted to hang around

Re: Its official...we're fooked.

A minute ago everyone was whining because of the heat - we had an amazing summer, I'm still grateful for that.

Agreed on the black though - which is why I basically boycott the colour, I have a funeral outfit for summer and one for winter, that's all the black I own. I could, however, easily hide in a group of SAS men, as I have a lot of green and brown instead of the black and grey. Except for the bright red quilted jacket

It's hard to buy other colours than the funeral garb, by the way, unless you go designer... if I hear one more person say 'black goes with everything', I might commit a crime. It especially does not go with navy.

Winter is actually one of the things I miss most....
It is ALWAYS sunny here and honestly it is starting to annoy me

I miss the complete silence outside when the snow accumulated a bit.
