wedding at train station

I am on my way to Zurich and as I pass through Aarau bahnhof I witness a wedding. At first I could not tell what was going on. I see about 100 people in two lines faceing towards each other and some people with cameras. I thought it was a press conference or maybe a V.I.P. Then I see the bride with the white dress and the groom. A bahnhof wedding... seriously? Is this a tradition or something? With all the magnificent nature of Switzerland how could somebody pick that place. (The only logic scenario I can think of is that they met there the first time or something). Any ideas? anyways congratulations to the couple.

They were going to have it in a church but the train was delayed, they missed their slot in the church and so they decided to have it in the station instead rather than not at all.

That would have been a wedding right down my husband's alley! He would have loved it at a station, as he is a train fanatic. (We ended up wit a meal on a special train with all our guests)

Re: wedding at train station

My wife and I celebrated our civil wedding at Zurich HB... with quite a lot of cheese and several dozen EFers.

Railway stations are really rather romantic.

Well, guess its one of those weddings that will stand out & people remember!

My friend wanted to get married in a Zoo (Which you can do in the UK but was a little too difficult here)

I met a Swiss girl some time ago and went on a date with her. She wanted to hang out at the train station. I was like "whaaat? what is fun about that, let's go someplace more romantic". No wonder she never called me again.

Re: wedding at train station

I get quite annoyed by all the trains running through or even stopping in my local church whenever there is a service on. Do people have any respect for the religions of others these days?

But I just keep on praying and reading the Holy Timetable. For is it not written, "thou knoweth neither the day nor the hour that the 12.35 from Midsomer Norton shall arrive"?

Well, if you insist on dating girls from Näfels, what do you expect?

The station is THE place to be seen in Näfels. A packet of fags and a couple of cans of OK Energy Drink and you'd have had a date to remember...

There is an ecumenic chapel in the HB, just as at the airport

Are they into bestiality?

Meanwhile, my late mother in law was lying in state in the chapel of the Gentilino graveyard, and some Japanese tourist comes in and wants to take pictures!

I kindly pointed her the way to Hermann Hesse's grave (across and three over from the in-laws), after explaining the situation (in English).

Tom

P.S. We even had tourists coming into the church during the funeral!
