considering the standard Migros or Coop offering of day-old pretzel bread slathered in 2 tons of butter with one slice of salami or ham, one slice of week-old hard boiled egg and one slice of limp pickle, it's hard to imagine Subway not making an absolute killing anywhere in Switzerland.

Is it really fair to compare pre-made sandwiches with a place that makes them fresh to order? Of course practically any fresh made sandwich will be an improvement over one shipped in from elsewhere that's been sitting in a fridge for 20 hours.

There's plenty of places in Switzerland that make fresh sandwiches that I find far better than Subway, and out of all the places that do make fresh sandwiches, I think Subway is the absolute worst.

at train stations? last time I tried to get a sandwich at a train station, the dude looked at me like I was crazy for daring to suggest that he put ham and cheese on the same sandwich.

That's nothing. I asked for a cheese burger in Bosnia once and got a burger bun with a bit of cheese in it - and no burger.

Re: Subway CH expands

I just polished off a large tuna with all the trimmings from Subway for my lunch. Very tasty it was too.

I'd rather have that than a pre-packed plastic sandwich from coop any day.

I just don't understand how chains such as Starbucks and Subway can attract clients here in Switzerland when there are plenty of places selling infinitely superior products at significantly cheaper prices.
Bachmann for example with their fantastic CHF7 gourmet sandwiches.

Nothing in neuch?
There will be soon. The takeaway pasta place in the Maladiere centre is being replaced by a Subway.
Not that it will affect you since you don't live here anymore ( and you're banned do probably won't even see it) but Kamarate should be happy.

Subway is great and there are plenty of people who find subway good. I wish them good success as someone needs to shake up the swiss industry which is overpriced

Re: Subway CH expands

How much does a sandwich cost in Subway ? I looked at their website, but no prices were mentioned. How much does it cost in a bakery like Bachmann ? I saw the price of 7 Chfr mentioned earlier, is this for a 'small' sandwich ?(I never buy sandwiches... so no idea !)

There's now 35 Subway's in Swiss, every proper town has one or more now.

I did go to them in Holland once or twice a year, but inhere i won't, there's just so much better stuff to get for those prices.

I like it how Switzerland is not yet infested with al the main snack/fastfood companies

When I was working out in California, there was a Subway and an 'artisan' bakery which would make up a fresh sandwich for you with fantastic ingredients on their fantastic sour dough or other fresh bread.

Both were equidistant from where I was working and prices were similar.

I could not understand why anyone went to the Subway with it's rubbery bread, rubbery cheese and rubbery ham.

There's no accounting for taste.

I'm not sure that Subway 'shaking up' the 'Swiss industry' is a good thing.

Re: Subway CH expands

So I see a sandwich 6 inch Veggie Delite costs 6,7 Ch, in France the same sandwich costs 2,9 euro. But that's a very small sandwich ! I would still be hungry after that.

You are Dutch and you live in the German speaking part of Switzerland. I get how the Frenchies have an issue switching from Suisse to Switzerland... but from "Switserland" to "Switzerland" isn't that hard, is it?

Why would i use Switserland?

Using a word wrongly is one thing, blaming others for using non-existing words that they did not even use is another.

Just try using Switzerland which is the official english word for this country. I wouldn´t like my country being called Dutch either ;-)

To correct myself, the "Afrikaners" name it Switserland, but that has nothing to do with me.

So if you correct people or try to be a text-nazi do it in the correct way instead of adding more errors to the story.

Thank you.
