There's a dedicated Swiss site, despite there being only 38 branches here, while other nations with over 100 branches have to have generic sites, so my guess is that they're going out of their way to avoid any price comparisons. TBH, they appear to be charging 2 - 2.5 times what they're charging in other European nations and when I see that kind of price gauging, I tend to take my custom elsewhere.

Never mind, I also made the mistake once to talk about Swiss, and was called 'uncivilized', 'not willing to integrate', 'not educated' etc.... I'm still recovering.

Backery's usually have the best sandwiches and not this wrapped in plastic tastes like a sponge shit

I think it is rather junk food, because I know they had to close down a few shops in Belgium because it was not good enough.

For me, the worst about Subways is the bread. It feels and tastes like American supermarket bread, spongy and tasteless.
The ingredients themselves aren't too bad. However, given the choice, I will go to a bakery and have a sandwich made up in front of me in a real piece of bread. I rather like the Bernese word, Eingeklemmtes, which describes what it should be.

Of course its junk food. Thats why so many people like it.Plus the good bakery's are disapearing because they cannot compete with these big food chains and of course the rents become unaffordabe to the small business.

I had my first Subway ever a few weeks ago in Saudi and was pleasantly surprised. It was the first "proper" bread I'd had in weeks and with a drink cost about 5chf (non-alcoholic of course!). And sizes were in good old inches!

In the USA they have to have a ruler at hand to prove they are as big as they say. They are already facing charges in USA for short sandwiches.

I saw a German program a few months ago where they did the same with pizzas, most were smaller than advertised.

What's your definition of 'proper' bread?

The Chorleywood bread process is not 'proper' but a way of turning bread production into a industrialised process. Subway bread is made this way.

I meant in relation to not getting anything other than Saudi flatbread fatir, not because Subway bread is good, that's why I wrote 'proper'!
