Lol, rub it in, rub it in. I just got back from ze Balt, former DDR. It was amazing and smelled almost as nice as the ocean. Not quite but nice. Water smell and forest smell are addictive, I miss that. I want more Klopsen, Quarkküche, Kartoffelnsalat and Platfisch.

Switzerland doesn't smell like ocean
Indeed, Zürich still reaches of urine following the Street Parade.
Smelled quite good before around the water though.

The pool heater thermostat has developed a leak. The quick fix was to install a blanking bolt - meaning the pool can't be heated.

Why?

For the first time I was there not for business, could actually see the place, and was pleasantly surprised.

Art galleries, plenty of museums and Cuban food in Miami, art deco in Miami Beach, fruit smoothies, mojitos, cigars, Buddhist friends, Hemingway, roosters and cats in KW.

Permanent flip flops, switching between linen clothes and swimsuit the whole time, not a mountain, not even a tiny hill in sight = paradise (to me, of course).

Re: The First World Problem Thread

But, the American mountain ranges are great, somehow they seem to have more distinct character, Rockies, Sierras, Smokies, so lovely. The Alps are...well, just majestic Alps. Big rocks.

Anyways, my today's 1st world nag is, the croissant this morning was baked yesterday. And I couldn't find any chia seeds in Coop nor Manor this evening. What's goin' on?!

I got stuck in traffic due to the police blocking Constitution Avenue so that the presidential helicopters could land at the White House.

I tell so many "Dad jokes" as a teacher. The thing is, though, is I'm not a dad.

Apparently I'm "worse" than my supervising teacher.

It's ok. I do, too. Love bad jokes.

People crack up when they see somebody else cracking up, anyways.

Wait...this is not a 1st world problem, oder? It's not any problem.

Yeah, but I've found most people who are "brutally" honest, don't actually need the "brutally" bit but use it anyway because a) they lack the intelligence to be tactful or b) they revel in brutality.

Nothing to do with "PC", just common, old fashioned decency and respect.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

I'm not sure whether or not to pronounce my name the way it should be, or to go with the 'Swissified' way of pronunciation (what the receptionists at the doctors office come up with).

Actually this is a real problem. Should I just say it the Swiss way?

It's your name, pronounce it the way it should be.

I've had Swiss people "correct" me on the pronunciation of my name. I usually just stare at them and clench my cigar a bit. Nobody has ever done it twice.

Good point. When I'm in my home country, sometimes people will pronounce their names they way they're supposed to be (example in Spanish accent: Maria de Castillia Hernandez Gonzalez) and it's a bit weird.

Just making sure I'm not breaking some sort of social rule.
