a long time ago my mother gave my nephew a fireman's helmet with built in flashing light and siren for christmas.

They came to out house for christmas dinner. When my mother opened the door my aunt shouted "i can understand the helmet, it's just his kind of thing but did you have to include 3 sets of spare batteries????"
What are you saying??? Can't hear a thing...I got a bad case of fisher-price ears.

Yep, my son was very interested to get one of the two wing spinners

Castro needs to tell us which type he's got.. all the way from China
Lol, the anti-stress toy that stresses the hell out of parents and teachers. They are banning it at schools as we speak, in CZ (will make it so much more desireable...grrr). Apparently nobody can focus on anything when you got most of kids either spinning or thinking about the end of the class to be able toplay with that silly thing and be the cool kings. They do think over there that the ADHD is vastly overdiagnosed in the West so their reaction is consistent.

My FWP is...I like it. It is handy when I dissertate. They got me, the evil attention engineers.

There is a simple trick. Give the kids lots of citric flavoured ice like "Calippo" on a really hot day, and let them play with anything battery powered.

What the sugar doesn't bind together the citric acid will corrode.

Just make sure that any propeller head aunts & uncles are in on the game, otherwise they may "fix" the toys.

Ha! I wish. After the day I'd had, one large glass of pink and I was a goner.

Sitting on the sofa, and my OH asks me "what are we doing today?", when I thought we were already doing it.

Speaking of which:

OH is making a wobble board for Heffalump (FWP #1), and I can't find the extra large springs needed to give it the right amount of wobble. (FWP #2) According to our canine physiotherapist (FWP #3), most are made with boxspring mattress springs.

Can't decide which of our beds I should sacrifice so that my dog can do physiotherapy in the comfort of his own home. (FWP #4)

My doctor forbade me to go to Brazil (Zika et. al) and our families insist we travel to Europe instead. I was already counting on that Japan or Israel trip...

In shops they have little mini mattress things to display what the inside of the large one looks like. Have you thought about asking in bed shops to see if they have a mini one they are going to throw away that you could have?

Have you tried asking at your local Broki or recycling center?

Good idea!

Local Brocki yes - but apparently they don't accept mattresses (FWP #5) so no springs to be found.

Haven't tried the recycling center, though, good suggestion. Since the Brocki won't take mattresses, that could well be where surplus-to-requirements boxsprings end up.

I'll have a rummage 'round later this week.

The things we do, eh?

Your post reminded me to make use of my swopper. But someone changed the height, it's too high to work on the computer and I'm not heavy enough to get it further down.

I have a bunch of mattresses I'll be getting rid of if you are interested...4 to be precise. I was wondering how one could dispose of them.

I'm wearing thick socks and a big jumper because I'm buggered if I'm putting the central heating on in June!

(I may have lit the wood burner this afternoon though...)

Re: The First World Problem Thread

We have apparently run out of dog shampoo. The Hound has just been for a lovely walk and play whereupon she evidently rolled in something dead. A lot. I've just had to wash her with Sanex. The Teetree shampoo didn't cut it...
