Have just been fired to be replaced by a fellow colleague from outsourcing (India), who planned this extremely carefully. Not fun at just over 50 in IT.
Sorry, just stating the facts.
Sorry to hear this Zuri, seems to be happening all over the place.

Not the same but OH who has been "off sick" for nearly a year, heard yesterday that he is being made redundant, his boss has protected him this long but luck ran out. At 57 we are not hopeful of another job here. This was yesterday afternoon, in the morning the landlord informed us he has sold the apartment and we will need to leave! "Losing one's job is unfortunate but losing one's home too is just damn careless!" Time to start writing the next chapter

Oh CB, I am sorry to hear that. You certainly have your plate full.

Sorry to here, seems to be a lot of folk losing their jobs this year on EF and throughout Switzerland in general. Anyone have any thoughts as to why?

Hey Sobeit,

I put my comment on this thread, but further discussion would be great on a new thread (don't want to spoil this one)

Indeed a lot of bad news within just two days. I'm very sorry for both and hope things will turn soon.

But they all put it in the first world problem thread? What is this, admirable mastery or gallows humour?

Probably the latter. As the saying goes "Life is just a shit sandwich". In our case unfortunately we do not have enough bread to make it palatable

Re: The First World Problem Thread

I try to flirt with one guy (in writing) but because of the language we use every sentence costs me at least ten minutes in dictionaries and grammatics. So far, for 3 days, we've exchanged 3 messages, 3-4 sentences each.
On the bright side, I have to learn these things anyway.

Fast asleep when teenage daughter, who had gone into town to celebrate holiday with friends, called at 1.00 a.m. to say she was on the bus and we could go to sleep and not worry...

Hit my little toe badly when stumbling through my messy office half a sleep to find out the chair has hit my printer and broke it. And all of it is my own fault.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

So unused to living in a flat with no garden, Mrs McTAVGE, while drinking her Pimm's and Lemonade, threw her ice cubes and 1 slice of cucumber over the balcony, realising instantly with horror what she had just done.

Fortunately, the neighbours below did not end with an unexpected cucumber face mask or ice in their t-shirts, but the hedge did look slightly different.

Have you had them drive by fast when there's a giant puddle so that you get showered in muddy water yet? Pure pleasure... not.

Broke a plastic bit off my Garment Steamer, the first iron I've had for more than 8 months as it really IS nonstick. Of course I can't buy that part anywhere.
Today is not my day, should I just go back to bed?

Tesco Express at South Kensington ran out of Jack Daniels/Coke mixes, I don't have anything else to gurgle with before my concert in the Royal Albert Hall.

Oh well, just think about how you'd like potentially to scream, plead and knock some common sense into most of us instead.

Similar seems to work for most of the greats.
Want good tickets next time,

Buy them separately and mix your own...
