Re: The First World Problem Thread

Time we forgot the whole "global" bs idea. And while we are at it, the whole pc-ness.

Zuri - fingers crossed for you. It is not only IT where this parasitical principle shows.

Really sorry to hear this, ZuriRollt.

I hate the direction these companies are going, firing Ü50 employees as a matter of policy. It's widespread, few will ever make it to retirement age here.

Switzerland really needs to wake up to the knock on effects of this practice... but the cynic in me doubts this will ever happen.

Wishing you all the best.

Woke up to find that approximately 2.5 feet of toddler takes up over 4 square feet of bed.

Maybe he is already on the EF, asking what a fair salary is for his new job.

The car I want is a 4 seater and not 5 which makes it an inconvenience for 4 adults and a baby seat.

Speaking of which, the babyseats in the middle are not allowed, right? or a better question is are they safe in the middle

Sorry to hear Zuri.

We were just talking about this with my wife. We still have some considerable time till 50 but seeing in both of our companies, most of the people over 50 are mostly either made redundant or forced into early retirement.

We will do our best to close all of our debts and make the savings for kids before 50. anything we might earn afterwards seems to be a bonus in today's business practices

A fellow traveler flying business class on a long-haul flight was bitching to the stewardess that the seat next to him is occupied and it should have been free.

I think the bus driver tried to kill us...or maybe he had a continuous heat stroke. Nonetheless, he said "merci bcp et bonne journée á tous", so I am not sure.

Sorry to hear this Zuri, seems to be happening all over the place.

Not the same but OH who has been "off sick" for nearly a year, heard yesterday that he is being made redundant, his boss has protected him this long but luck ran out. At 57 we are not hopeful of another job here. This was yesterday afternoon, in the morning the landlord informed us he has sold the apartment and we will need to leave! "Losing one's job is unfortunate but losing one's home too is just damn careless!" Time to start writing the next chapter

Sorry to here, seems to be a lot of folk losing their jobs this year on EF and throughout Switzerland in general. Anyone have any thoughts as to why?

Hey Sobeit,

I put my comment on this thread, but further discussion would be great on a new thread (don't want to spoil this one)

Indeed a lot of bad news within just two days. I'm very sorry for both and hope things will turn soon.

But they all put it in the first world problem thread? What is this, admirable mastery or gallows humour?

Probably the latter. As the saying goes "Life is just a shit sandwich". In our case unfortunately we do not have enough bread to make it palatable
