Well the great state of Michigan has long topped my list of retirement possibilities... until today.

This HuffPo - bastion of journalistic excellence that it is(n't) - article shows a map of the 'most hated thing' in each US state.

So what do Michiganders hate most?

Pride and Prejudice.

FWP: It is a truth universally acknowleged that a retiree in possession of little fortune and a life long love of Miss Austen must be in want of communion with like minded spirits...

FWP 2: Forgot to link the map:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/...ushpmg00000009

FWP 3: Our powers of recollecting and of forgetting do seem peculiarly past finding out.

Boycott the state immediately! Madness... Wildly OT, but have you seen or read Austenland? It's a riot.

I have not...

... it took me a few minutes to reply because I immediately hopped over to Amazon to order it. Thanks for the tip!

Book or DVD? I can heartily recommend the film: it's pretty faithful to the book and the purposeful anachronistic touches are ace. Enjoy.

(Sequel is also fab: Midnight in Austenland)

I bought the book, it looked like perfect beach reading... on the Lake Michigan shore.

(Take that, heathenish Michiganders!)

Film looks good too. I sense a JA binge night coming soon...

Enjoy. If you didn't already find JJ Feild adorable, you will after the movie. It has the dude from Flight of the Conchords too.

That should make it dead simple: wear a PETA t-shirt, vegan docs and book a table at Roots.

Difficult indeed.
Especially as she will want to vomit each time that you wish to be a little closer, when you've animal remains on your tongue.

Fish and chips (let's admit it)
Never been a huge fan of chips, but did share a plate of the best I've had for many a year this time last week, in a taverna right on the sand at Schinias Beach, Marathonas.

So what do Michiganders hate most?

Pride and Prejudice.

Also last week, I had cause to recite this quote you will be familiar with...

Quote:
For what do we live, but to make sport for our neighbors, and laugh at them in our turn?
