How long does it take a mosquito to starve to death? Is it expecting me to continue that game tonight?

Re: The First World Problem Thread

I used my Dyson to clean my Roomba, and the rest of the apt (I was close to needing snowshoes not to sink in to my knees). Then I emptied the Dyson and put it away.

Now I've just come back from taking the garbage bag out, only to notice that it had a small tear and some of the dust from the two vacuum cleaners has leaked out.

Now I have to decide if I want to get the Dyson back out, or just ignore it for tonight and run the (now perfectly clean) Roomba tomorrow.

The horrors.... the horrors!

That mosquito or one of its pals is almost certain to be back.

The little buggers seem to think it's mandatory to wake me up by buzzing around my ears before they bite.

They like to hide in dark places during the day, especially under the bed. When they get too bad I give the underside of the bed and other furniture a good spray with insecticide. Early evening so that you don't feel as though you are poisoning yourself when your head hits the pillow.

My solution is a third vacuum cleaner, a hand held battery driven job.

Three vacuums, two of which I would only use every 2nd year? You're mad. It's not like they're tools, to collect and cherish, even if you only use them once a decade...

Re: The First World Problem Thread

We have two hoovers as we found one when we moved into our new house. In fact it is the one we use. And I don't use our own one as there was a discount offer on the bags for the one we found, so I stocked up!

I live next to the Rhine, so they are generally about (but not always as bad as I thought it would be). When they're bad I wait until the sun has gone down, then spray a wee patch on the windowsill of every window and outside of the balcony door. When they're not so bad I use a drop of citronella oil about once a week.

Put them in the washing machine with a new, red bedthrow, or a new, cheap, red towel.

How can I put it .... It's just for decoration.

P.S. When better half came back home she shook her had in disbelief. She uttered: "This place looks the way I left it but how can you explain two more centimeters of dust?"

Are you saying white isn't trendy in the 1st world?

Why does waiting for snow and dying red sound useless.

My shoes are manky

They seem to attract all the mankiness there is.

The messy apartment when she comes back home is one thing, but calling her "it", and admitting that you see her as decoration is a big no no. (a BIG no no)
