My solution is a third vacuum cleaner, a hand held battery driven job.
Three vacuums, two of which I would only use every 2nd year? You're mad. It's not like they're tools, to collect and cherish, even if you only use them once a decade...

We have two hoovers as we found one when we moved into our new house. In fact it is the one we use. And I don't use our own one as there was a discount offer on the bags for the one we found, so I stocked up!

When they get too bad I give the underside of the bed and other furniture a good spray with insecticide. Early evening so that you don't feel as though you are poisoning yourself when your head hits the pillow.
I live next to the Rhine, so they are generally about (but not always as bad as I thought it would be). When they're bad I wait until the sun has gone down, then spray a wee patch on the windowsill of every window and outside of the balcony door. When they're not so bad I use a drop of citronella oil about once a week.

I used my Dyson to clean my Roomba, and the rest of the apt (I was close to needing snowshoes not to sink in to my knees). Then I emptied the Dyson and put it away.

Now I've just come back from taking the garbage bag out, only to notice that it had a small tear and some of the dust from the two vacuum cleaners has leaked out.

Now I have to decide if I want to get the Dyson back out, or just ignore it for tonight and run the (now perfectly clean) Roomba tomorrow.

The horrors.... the horrors!
I don't have this kind of FWP. I'm a simple man but it must be posh

Put them in the washing machine with a new, red bedthrow, or a new, cheap, red towel.

From the man who was worried about having made a mess of the apt while his wife was away that's a little bit hard to believe...

How can I put it .... It's just for decoration.

P.S. When better half came back home she shook her had in disbelief. She uttered: "This place looks the way I left it but how can you explain two more centimeters of dust?"

Are you saying white isn't trendy in the 1st world?

Why does waiting for snow and dying red sound useless.

My shoes are manky

They seem to attract all the mankiness there is.

The messy apartment when she comes back home is one thing, but calling her "it", and admitting that you see her as decoration is a big no no. (a BIG no no)

I'm glad to hear that. Perhaps they will attract some of the mankiness of out of the safety shoes I keep for power washing cars and parts.

"Manky"? Honey, you don't even know how to pronounce it!

I have a special one kept separate in our basement and used only to vacuum spiders I'm far too scared the monstrous buggers escape if I keep the vacuum cleaner inside my place

Shoes with a toecap and sole plate to protect your feet.

A long time ago mine used to look like this:

I have a "clean pair" which I put in the washing machine about every 6 months, but my "grungiesandals" are waaay too oil and grease soaked for the washing machine now.
