Today i saw Chewbacca walking around Paradeplatz, taking pictures with the other tourists.
I saw a student dressed up as a cardinal on a train, on the Halloween morning. He was so authentic, except his granny's black purse, that was a bit inauthentic.

Some people did not realize it was Halloween - they were really wigged out, staring at him. I was just waiting for him to start to give them blessings.

My cell was out of battery, unfortunately. FWP - not being able to take a photo of a fake cardinal.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

My baby, oh so terribly young, just-out-of-nappies teenage son has asked me if he could meet his girlfriend down town on Saturday afternoon for an hour or so.

My problem is that I have already thrown out last weekend's large broadsheet newspaper which I need to have on Saturday to go with my long trench coat & spy hat.

Just spent 2 hours walking round the huge Tesco Extra store in my home town lost, and wishing I was in Migros with a fraction of the choice.

Because that's our reason, ambition and wishful thinking. I congratulate you on that.

Now, go get your ice-cream, life is short.

I run super early and it's closed. Like....early risers eager to get their run off their to-do list have no chance in the local gym system. Maybe when I get old and start running later, or sumfin. Plus, people in the gym try to flirt. While I am busy enjoying my treadmill experience, ha!

I was over in London for a training day last week, but was fortunate enough to find a smallish Waitrose close to where I was staying, so was able to do my suitcase-full-of-goodies shop in about twenty minutes. Previous trips have been more similar to your experience. I mean, ten types of cheddar cheese I can understand, but the sheer number of brands of some products is quite bewildering.

OTOH, isn't it great to have guaranteed availability of all those things you've got used to doing without or substituting? Salad cream, golden syrup and black treacle , brown sugar, a variety of fresh chillis, coriander, etc. etc. etc. Oh, and Pork Pies.

Mmmm...Salad cream Thanks for the reminder.
Don't you find that you can be craving something from the UK for ages, then when you have abundant access to it, you've gone off the stuff? Exception...I've had curry for dinner for the last 3 nights and stink like a whore's handbag.

Now that Aldi ZH stocks decent mature Cheddar, that's saved me having to take several lbs back. This trip will probably be chutney, and if I find somewhere that stocks Ma Baker's Apricot Yoghurt Topped Flapjacks, I'll be buying a box full.

Let's see if I have any luggage space left No promises this trip, but I could freeze them and drop them at grumpy's for you on a day of your choosing (if grumpy would agree to that)?
