Re: The First World Problem Thread

I'm back in Chicagoland for the Big Fat Collie Family Thanksgiving Extravaganza, four generations under one roof, highlight of my year.

Coming from across the ocean I couldn't bring my contributions to the feast all cooked and ready to go, nor could I bring many of the ingredients, so I had to go grocery shopping.

There I was wandering the miles of aisles, muttering "What do you mean (insert Swiss specialty ingredient) isn't available here? How on earth am I going to cook my famous (insert Swiss specialty dish)?"

Karmic retribution for those times I moaned about lack of brown sugar in Switzerland, methinks.

They're not, used those for years. With a little logic you quickly know it's the brush rattling (as it's not fitting well .... guess that was a batch of brushes that were badly manufactured as marton had the same problem).

So if marton sells it for half-price, go for it. It's a good one

Paid CHF 29.- for a fish 'n chips at the Lions pub, Zürich today.
It was perfectly revoltingly greasy, so reminded me of home. Heaven, except that I could only eat about a third

The best fish 'n chips in Zürich, without doubt.

Had an MG once with twin SUs.
Spent some hours balancing them with a gadget that had spark plugs with glass inserts so one could check the richness of the mixture and another one that measured the pressure in the carburetor intakes.

Next morning my unsuspecting wife drove the MG to the end of our road, waited for a gap in the traffic, gave full gas and span the car several times!!

Then I learnt to delay the throttle opening to the second SU!

Basic tools of the trade, Unisyn and Colortunes.

Most of the oldtimers are adjusted too rich.
