In churches? It is classical stuff, usually. Orchestra, choir, solists, etc.

Bands have hard time getting a gig in a church . The rock bands I played in wouldn't probably pass the program committee.
Fellow choir singer here! Concerts for the past two Sunday, and another one on Saturday!

Cool. Glad the churches are heated in this country. Have done enough symphonies in frozen places. It is a bit lame to sing wrapped up like an Eskimo.

A colleague mentioned just last week that his local church closes in the depths of winter because it doesn't have any heating.

Oh no... It looks like it is the busiest church time now, here and home, services, parties, nativity scenes exhibitions, concerts. Quite a buzz. I can imagine some churches could be hard to heat, though.

I have a musician friend who often plays in churches. He says ice-cold churches have a special acoustic and he regrets that many churches overdo the heat these days.

It may be true...and ascetic. Though having performed in so many beautiful, wintery, melancholic and soul enriching while completely frozen places, I gotta say after a few hrs of last rehearsal, mis en voix and the whole shibang, warm grog and woolly socks all one can think about. FWP

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Spent yesterday evening reading up 4 chapters on electrolysis so I could throw questions at my son to help him prepare for a test today.

His teacher decided to test the class on energy changes & chemical reactions instead.

I feel like complaining.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

I'm looking for the thread about storing food in fridge or cupboard. No success.

To those who do: It's really nasty to tell newbies to use the search-function, you know? Might as well just slam the door in their faces.

I find searching through the threads a lot like a times crossword challenge, as well as a memory game test. For the cupboards, you may be thinking of this one?

Admittedly that one is a bit tricky to find. I remembered it was me asking about where you kept your "ketchup" so used that word for the search.

Use Google Powered or Google itself, the rest is useless

Also do not forget to comment on threads which you think are interesting.
Than a quick "curley fridge cupboards site:englishforum.ch" on Google will give what you need. Only works if you have a distinct username which is normally not used for something else . Even better when you have a world wide distinct user name I can even drop the site:englishforum.ch part and I am still able to find my EF stuff with Google.

I use the same tactic for the opposite reason . That way I don't need to remember or change ID for each site...
