You've not lived. Is marvellous. And locally brewed. Yum.

I do not like ginger bread and ginger biscuits, but i would like to know what it is like to enjoy and get excited over them...
I love them sugar reduced and with a lot of pepper and fresh ginger. It is the spice mix that is pleasant, grown up crackers.

FWP: Wot, no recipe?

Please please please post your recipe - rum favored gingerbread sounds all kinds of awesome!
Oks - in case anone still has the time to refill the cookie box, here are MC's ultimate gingerbreads

400g flour, 150g icing sugar, 100g melted butter, 2 large eggs, 120g liquid warm honey (i mix it with golden sirup), 1/2 tea spoon of baking soda, a capsule of rum flavor or a big shot of real one, a sachet of vanilla sugar, a sachet of 'pain d'épice' spice mix (a whole one from Manor or 3 tb sp of Coop/Migros mix). Mix it all, let it sleep in the fridge over night to roll out a cm thick dough the next day. Place on the baking paper and glaze witb egg white. Bake 7-9min at 200deg. If you have fresh ginger, grate it and add to the dough.

As you let it cool but not entirely (abstain from eating them all), get a large tupperware ready, slice an orange in it in half, put the gingerbreads in and seal. They are better the next day.

While we are the festivities - I made mulled wine drink that disappeared in a few mins too. MC's mulled wine:

A bottle of white wine, a shot of rum, a bottle of apple cider, some apple juice, 3 star-anis, 3 twigs of cinnamon, 5 cloves, brown sugar, zest and juice from one ripe orange. Warm it (70deg) for a while and take off the heat. Serve it over fresh slices of lemon and a cinnamon twig from the pot.

Happy holidays, everyone!

<<'pain d'épice' spice mix>>
what's in it? Can I just use cinnamon, cardamom, cloves instead?
(I googled it on the Migros page, did not find it )

I used the Manor sachet (ginger in it, too, and star anis) Migros has an already pre-mix jar and Coop too. In case you want to mix your own gingerbread spice mix: http://www.marmiton.org/recettes/rec...ces_11087.aspx

Probably, but I feel better knowing I have a fellow sufferer. Misery loves company and all that.

Well, actually fellow sufferer make me feel healthy.

When ever there is something wrong and someone says "yeah, I got that too" it causes me to think "ah, alright then" and interestingly enough it often goes away real quickly

The great thing is: You almost always find someone who says "yeah, me too"

Is it me, or is the coffee in Costa Coffee cafes truly awful?

Anyone tried coffee from there on trips to the UK?

It's not you. I used to manage a site that had a branch of Costa Coffee, and I couldn't drink it without getting indigestion. Put me off lattes for good. So even thought the coffee was free to me, I took my own into work.

It is pretty bland and meh, not surprising given that the parent company is the Whitbread Pub chain. I much prefer Caffe Nero, one of the few chains that give you a double shot of espresso as standard.

Ever since they put the Eurolotto price up to 3.50, claiming we'll have two chances to win now I never won a single penny anymore.

I hung out in Deutschland looking forward to practice German, and we did not need it at all.

Btw, we are a little bit hooked on the Goethe Institute vids, they are weirdly cute.
