Re: The First World Problem Thread

Our cleaning lady decided to retire. We need to find a new one and educate her according to our needs. Who has time for this!

Probably, but I feel better knowing I have a fellow sufferer. Misery loves company and all that.
Yeah, it was really unpleasant. I've got a few casseroles with food from friends who left for Prague right after Christmas....my first reaction was "wait, we have so much food...not some more please.." lol but it proved to be a providential thing, apart from a lovely gesture of course, because they saved me from cooking for an entire day so I just spoiled myself with gallons of hot tea and plenty of rest, which helped a lot.
It's so good to have friends who usually cook way too much than needed...

Is it me, or is the coffee in Costa Coffee cafes truly awful?

Anyone tried coffee from there on trips to the UK?
It is all over CZ, spread like Marks n Sparks, Next, Tesco, and alike.

I actually never expected real coffee, so the gingerbread holidays drinks aren't that bad.

Better than Starbucks. We often go into a Costas for coffee when we're in the UK. Mind you I usually have hot chocolate. Prefer that over coffee or tea.

My OH and me had to wait for our lattes at startbucks in Zurich for 25 minutes, while the staff served a dozen of people in the queue behind us. No apologies from them were heard. The first problem: there is no way to pay them back for the awful service and i feel like hurting them...

I can not sleep with the window closed.

NYE fireworks, window closed, no sleep.

On NY night, more fireworks, window closed, no sleep.

Last night, Eleanor was howling, banging and rattling, window closed, no sleep.

Now tonight, some eejit is outside on the street coughing.. non-stop horrible hacking, barking-like coughs for the last hour..

I should reduce a dry red wine consumption in my household. How much per day is a safe dose after all?

Less than your doctor. (Or more- depends on the doctor.)

Credit Suisse have just sent me a stack of regulatory documents requiring multiple signatures, but there are no arrow stickies telling me where exactly I have to sign.
I am expected to wade through it like some sort of animal

Just sign and date every page. If something isn't to your liking afterwards then you can always create a whingeing thread here on EF.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Wifey told me that there was something wrong with the bell peppers, the seeds had gone black, her hands were burning, and they tasted strange after she cooked them.

I then pointed out that they were not bell peppers, they were rocotos, hence the black seeds and burning hands!
