Fish sticks are not what they used to be.
Is it because they don't know how to make them anymore or because I grew up?
Thanks to modern technology the coating is double so thick and has no bread or egg.

Take a look at "Die Tricks der Lebensmittelindustrie
Ob rosiges Hackfleisch, knusprige Fischstäbchen oder Wackelpudding: Die Lebensmittelindustrie hat für jeden Geschmack etwas im Angebot, doch oft trickst sie bei Zutaten und Verpackung"
on ZDF!

Thanks, I don't think I even want to know.
I'll just buy them fish naked and in original shape again.

I'd suggest wearing shoes at the very least. Take a purse for your bank card too.

I was wondering about getting a comment like that but decided, my post was grammatically correct.

Yeah, for people from some nations German headlines are already too informative, huh?

The German version for TMI is hardly ever used and is "so genau wollte ich es gar nicht wissen".

Where did you zone out? At "genau" or did you make it to "ich"?

Off to Chicago tomorrow.

Where it will be -25 degrees. -50 with the wind chill factor.

Minus. Fifty. Frickin'. Degrees.

Chicagoans are made of sterner stuff, but that's mighty cold even for us.

FWP: Last week I went all Marie Kondo and cleaned out my closets, tossing all my warm wintery stuff that for years has just been taking up space because, well, who needs woolies or a down coat in balmy Zürich?

Now I'm wondering how many layers I can pack and still stay within Swiss' luggage allowance...
What did you do with the doggies? I remember you said you cant travel anymore because your old pet sitter retired. Did you find a new one?

In long German sentences waiting until you reach the verb gets extremely tedious! Problem I have in conversations is that in such situations I start to fantasise about what verb will pop up so by the time it is reached I am no longer listening!

Well, either Chicago is losing it's famous hardiness or Swiss über caution reigns, but the flight was cancelled.

I was really looking forward to some epic Polar Vortex.

Why when I were a lad(ette), a little thing like life threatening cold never stopped us. No siree bob - Just pop a lightbulb under the hood so the car will start next morning, and keep on going. Quite literally - during the various Big Freezes of my youth, when driving we kept the engine running for fear it wouldn't start again, we became masters of jumping out of a slow rolling car. Ah those were the days.

Weirdly, Swiss has already cancelled my flight in two weeks time. Wonder what's going on over there...

Serious FWP - With the Swiss flight cancelled I'll have to fly through Frankfurt in February. Horrors.

Thanks for asking!

They were to be left in the tender loving care of my husband who had agreed to work from home, with the retired sitter (read: saint) kindly stopping by whenever OH would need a breather.

(Rinse and repeat, as I anticipating a fair amoung of 'eldercare' travel necessary in the coming year.)

Glück in Unglück, my flight was cancelled so I'm still here, and OH is not being distracted by the Muttley Crew as he works his fingers to the bone to earn their biscuit allowance.

Still looking for that holy grail, a responsible, reliable, experienced sitter who can provide 'special needs' care. I've scoured the length and breadth of Switzerland, there simply is no one here willing or able to do the job. I'm currently trying to figure out what it would take permit-wise to bring someone from the US over here to take over while I fly over there.

Now that is the mother of all FWPs.

Nope. It seems like it's somehow imprinted the ink onto the bit you're supposed to sign. I even tried washing in warm soapy water.

Some poorly developed google algorithm has automatically rejected some of my adverts on policy grounds.
It believes my pictures of dogs wearing harnesses does not conform to their policy banning half naked pictures.

Was offloading the dishwasher, both racks in full view. And then i had an innocent morning sneeze - i could see parts of my sneeze flying off and landing all over the cups and plates.
Stood by the open dishwasher for a few good seconds staring at crockery in disbelief...
