I do that, too, probably too much ...lemon tarts still complicating my usual routes, coz I detour to have that tangy texture. Evil.
If you're going to indulge in tartes citrons, I hope you at least got some good ones!

I'm realising that I have slowly but surely developed a semi-addiction to bakery goods once arriving in Switzerland. All those carbohydrates are not good for a gourmand like me as it is.......

...and yet, I'm still missing toasties, especially at work (my old workplace had a toastie machine on every floor's kitchen area)...

I can't think much about food these days. Just lemon tarts. The luxury 1st world offers.

Oh dear, that shows how long it's been since I've been in a driving seat. If a car doesn't support starting with a twist of a key then I really wouldn't have a clue how to start it.

That inspires me to change the voice of my TomTom GPS to Darth Vader voice. Currently it has the voice of a Hungarian grandma who always shocks me whenever she says, "Oh god, this is terrible!!..."

Re: The First World Problem Thread

So I broke the bank and bought 4 new Michelin winter tires and believed the tire guys that my summer tires, which were bought just last March, were no longer any good.

Just got Switzerlanded today. I couldn't believe how stupid I felt. Sigh. If only I were fluent in french! Aaaaaaargh!

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Just paid my health insurance.

I decided on the annual option so there goes a fair chunk of my bank account just like that. The flipside is that I save CHF 50 for the year. So it's only meant to be mildly depressing.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

doing the dishes. I hate it!! it ruins every meal! I just want to drink my Port but the kitchen is a horrible mess. That's just not how it should be.

And no, a dishwasher doesn't change much! someone still have to put those dishes inside that thing!

I need to save money so I bought second-hand books through Amazon. Obviously we don't have the same understanding about what "acceptable" means!

My books are a weird brownish coulour and smell funny

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Just menially went to update my address details on a few of my loyalty programmes (frequent flying, staying etc.). The amount of incompetent technical hassle never fails to boggle my mind.

The cake was one website where the address details involved selecting the country, and then the drop down list for "City" (and "State/Region") is updated according to the country selected. So of course I selected "Switzerland" and let the lists update.

Sure enough, a rather short list of Swiss cities is presented in the drop down list. Lausanne isn't in the list. Now before you go, "Well, Lausanne isn't a well known city" or "They don't fly to Lausanne", consider that many other cities/towns were in the list besides Geneva, Basel or Zurich, plus if Lausanne isn't so well known internationally, then what the hell are some of the other cities/towns doing in the list, for example: Neuchatel, Aargau, Morges, Winterthur, Baden......

And the "State/Region" list doesn't get populated with a list of cantons, there's only one option: "Other". Not that it is terribly difficult to obtain a list of the 26 cantons of CH, right?

It's throwing it down, and I have to walk the dogs. I can either get soaked, or wear my husband's army surplus camouflage-pattern waterproof trousers.

Dryness or dignity?

My dog refuses to walk outside when it rains.

She does the fastest pee ever about one meter away from the front door, glaring at me the whole time as if it was MY fault she's getting wet.
