Technically, forms should always have Great Britain (GB) as this is the name recognized according to International Standard Organisation (ISO).

If one manages to recognize the ISO currency code of a country then they will easily know the two digit country code. For example, GBP for GB, USD for US, CHF for CH etc etc.
If a every country has a unique two character ISO code, and every currency has a unique three character ISO code with the first two characters being identical to the country ISO code, does this imply that the people who made up this system were allowing for every country to have up to 26 currencies?

Guess so.

In some cases, it is needed. For example, the Zimbabwean Dollar has been redenominated quite a few times; in that process, it has gone through new ISO currency codes - first ZWD, then ZWN, ZWR and the current Dollar in use, ZWL.

I started attending the advanced German language course again to refresh my knowledge but the teacher doesn't always write all articles next to the nouns. How am I suppose to differentiate between all those der die das?

Maybe I should put it in the First Word Problems.
That reminds me of a tutorial series I got from Youtube on teaching French.

There used to be a lot of lessons which were just vocabulary lessons, where he simply gave lists of words related to a topic, and their meaning.

He was good enough to indicate the gender of all nouns (and pronouncing the article too) - e.g. le or la - but when it came to nouns starting with a vowel or most starting with h, he would never say or indicate on the slides what the gender was (this is because with these words, the second letter of the normal article is elided, e.g. l'orange, and does not tell the gender). The same goes for nouns which were normally found as a plural, viz. les. (Same problem in German - all plurals have the article die but that gives no indication of gender).

That was the one name that didn't come up!

Another classic example would be the Russian RUR changed to RUB.

The ISO also has unique numerical as well as alpha codes for currency and country codes to benefit those countries who do not use Latin characters.

I want to discuss the Netflix series 'Making a Murderer' with my colleagues but nobody has Netflix.
I feel like Marty McFly stuck in the 1950s.

You could start a thread?
In EF for example?

You know how? If not happy to help.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Repair guy (who is obviously just going to come and inspect the problem, go hmm, then write to the regie) makes me go home from work early, wait around for an hour past the appointed time, and then calls me to say he won't come until a inconvenient time later in the week afterall.
I thought the Swiss were supposed to be good at the whole punctuality thing?

My freezer was so full that I had to compromise by removing some ice cubes. All good ...

How will I be able to drink my Glenfiddich 15 year old Solera Whiskey on the rocks now?
