Re: The First World Problem Thread

While waiting for a train, I ran into an old friend who I hadn't seen in years.

We started chatting and as the train approached we made for the second class section. I have a 1st class GA but I assumed he didn't. It was only at the end of our trip that it turned out he had made the same assumption about me.

I never know if my country will be listed as "United Kingdom", "Great Britain", "British Isles" or "England"

There is an elegant 1st world solution to this problem. Get a 2nd Dishwasher and a pair of magnets/stickers, one red, the other green. Put the red magnet and all dirty dishes into one dishwasher. When the red machine is full run it and swap the magnets over. At mealtimes take cutlery and such from the machine with the green magnet. Repeat.

I booked Easter holidays in Italy months ago using other CC than I normally do. Must I really take same CC I made the booking with or can use my favourite CC for which I remember pin by heart?

Depending on the reservation

Hotels need a credit Card number during booking, in case you cancel it and if they then may charge something regarding the policies.

Some hotels "hold" some amount during booking (might be a night price or something else) on your credit card for your possible spendings but this is mostly done before checking in, not during reservation. This "hold" is not a charge but a "hold", again depending on the policies.

So most probably you need to bring your new credit card while your already expired card will not function

There was a time that I knew my credit card number, expiry date and CVV heart but I could not remember my phone number.

All but one of the devices I can watch Netflix on need charging, apart from the TV, but the remote for that is all the way over there...

The wife has decided that rather than take my spacious Ford Focus wagon for our road trip to Trieste tomorrow, we will take the Boxster, which means that I will have to reduce my stuff to the minimum, as she can't!

Re: The First World Problem Thread

Team event last night included bowling. I made a big deal about being rubbish at it - and promptly bowled 2 zero scores.

I'm then accused of sandbagging with 3 strikes and 2 half/strikes - and winning.

Re: The First World Problem Thread

I was coming back from the tennis session in Buchs AG and there was an accident on A1 causing a bottleneck around 18h30 yesterday. Everyone's stuck in a bumper-to-bumper traffic moving slowly. All of a sudden, lady behind me bumped my car. We pointed to emergency lane to inspect the damages. There was no major indent but the metallic paint lacquer on the surface had horrible hairline cracks about 2-3 inches in diameter looking like a glass after stone cast. She took a photo of the damage. We exchanged the numbers and decided to stay in touch should I claim the damage.

Now, I'm a bit confused. It's not such a big deal but almost a brand-new-looking-bumper has visible ugliness. Should I check repair cost and get her involved?

Wonder if such hair-line cracks in lacquer can be easily fixed without major paint job?

After you'll check repair costs you will defo get her involved... We have a naughty Italian neighbor that has bumped my OH's car about 3 times...in the garage.. The damage cost was much higher than expected so we got her insurance company involved.

So you reckon I should actually bother?

Probably you right. Now it creates another personal FWP of being "nitpicking". Then it's within context because we're talking "hairlines".
