National Lottery

I cannot find any info on the workings of the national lottery in Switzerland. Can anybody explain it to me or point me at a website? I would like to know where tickets are bought, how much they cost, how long are they valid for, how often there's a draw, where you find the results, where you claim your winnings, etc. And of course, has anybody won big yet?

As you would have spent it on private spelling and grammar tuition.

Re: National Lottery

Go to the kiosk, take a lotto ticket and mark six numbers each in at least the two fields in the most left column. (Last time I played you had to make at least two bets at 1.50 Fr. each).

There's a box for two additional Joker games that involve pre-printed numbers, and the possibility (or is it included in the price?) of playing with a bonus number (Zusatzzahl) that will increase your profit if you have 5 numbers right. But you can ignore this for now.

Then go to the kiosk and pay. There's also a row of boxes that you can tick if you wish to play with the same tip several drawings in a row.

The drawing is each Wednesday and Saturday. The results are practically everywhere in Teletext, newspapers, the internet and the drawing is shown live on TV.

Winnings up to 50 Fr. and often up to 1000 Fr. can be claimed at the kiosk. For big winnings you have to get in contact with Swissloto (or Lotterie Romande) yourself.

In the long run 50% of the bets are given back to the players but depending on the last few drawings, there may be less or more to be won with 5, 5+Bonus or 6 right tips. The winnings for 3 and 4 right guesses are constant (6 Fr. and 50 Fr.)

Re: National Lottery

Nathu is correct that you must do at least two lines : and they must be the two leftmost (on the paper - one above, one below)

and if you can't decide which numbers to select, then you can ask for the computer to pick some for you.

I buy one once every couple of months (3CHF worth) and have won ten francs a couple of times..

It may (therefore) be more efficient in terms of time to simply flush a 10CHF note down the pan once a month! (or give it to a homeless person).

Re: National Lottery

While we are on the subject of lottery, for anyone that flys Ryanair, please note that you are not elegible to enter the ryanair scratchcard lottery unless you are normally resident in an EU country. Unfortunately the Mini Cooper S had to go back....

Re: National Lottery

How does the Joker option work in the Swiss Lotto?

Someone mentioned having to get 5 of the 6 digits, in any order?

Thanks for your help.

Re: National Lottery

Does anyone know what steps have to be taken to set-up a lottery syndicate here in Switzerland?

I familiar with the process in the UK and Australia, but here.

How many of you are there? Swisslos has a "Team" system for the Euromillions with a special playing slip (up to 10 players) that splits the jackpot accordingly and allows each player to claim separately.

Re: National Lottery

Only two persons at the moment, but it will grow.

We will play Swiss Lotto and not Euromillions, as the odds are better, but of course the prizes smaller.
