I finally saw the crane yesterday afternoon - and I absolutely love it!
It's a beautiful object - probably the most beautiful thing in the city centre.
I honestly don't understand why people don't like it.

I will miss it once it will be away. I hope it either simply stays OR that they find an alternative place somewhere around the Zürisee

or be purchased by Mr Blocher and be placed on the lakeshore of Herrliberg as the Blocher Hafen-Kran ************************************************** alternativvely it could be placed in Pfäffikon SZ or Lachen SZ Airfield or Ziegelbrücke -- as a generous donation of the City of Zürich -- and named das Escher.von-der-Linth Denkmal (unlcle of the chap on the Bahnhofplatz)

I saw it a few weeks ago. I don't mind it but I prefer the real ones by Battersea Power Station in London

Wanting to make the best of a beautiful day yesterday I decided to at last go an have a look at the crane displayed apparently so artistîcally in our lovely city. Once on the train it occurred to me that I'd just read about the Bahnhofstrasse being finished now - two weeks early in fact. So I planned my route im my head, one promising a nice long walk around the town. In the HB I realised that the new part of the station was also finished, so, being on the spot I went to have a look at that - and was suitably impressed. In fact seeing that the new station was used by the Sbahns to get to the airport I decided to go home that way afterwards.
So I went to have a look at the Bahnhofstrasse, diverting from my planned route. No complaints, much airier, but I hope the station end is going to have trees put in in spring. Passing a Bratwurststand I decided to have lunch the easy way. Afterwards, as I was near to Orell Füssli I popped in, bought three books I didn't really want and walked back to the station wondering about the route of the train to the airport.
I took a seat in a fairly empty train facing the engine (if that can still be said today) and changed as soon as the train started to move because it went off in the direction I hadn't bargained with.
And went all the way to Oerlikon through a tunnel!
But it was so interesting to see our new Zürich. And at the airport while rushing to get to the bus the crane came into my mind - I still haven't seen it!
Never mind, I was born on the banks of the Tyne and so have seen more cranes than I've had bratwursts.

When they are done with it they can put it in my garden. It will be useful to trim the very tall trees and I won't need to hire a crane. | The following 3 users would like to thank Mrs. Doolittle for this useful post: | |

I honestly don't understand why people don't like it. | | | | | It is beautiful. And, more importantly, it's provocative and inspiring. You only have to look at the way it's divided the EF old farts between cool kids and "Angry of Didcot" to understand that it really works as a piece of art.

I like it but then again I take the point that the skyline in Zurich and up and down the lake is bristling with them. Better than something more cliched though..

I am new to Switzerland, so I was unaware that this was a relatively new installation.
I think it looks great. General opinion here seems to go along with the trend of people hating everything new. And as sure as night follows day, people will grow to love it.

Personally, I find the crane the most interesting visitor's object in Zürich beside the attractivness of blue tram number 7
Finally, the Transformers are back in town.

Doncha know nuffink?

Something deep that I can think of is that it does not harass the people.
