Nature at its best...

All along the road today, there were 100s of orchids, male orchids, early purple and pyramidal- mixed with 1000s of large field daisies, sainfoin and deep pink and blue cranesbill (wild geranium)- it was so beautiful so I parked in the lay-bye to admire. Then something caught my eye- and above was a large male chamois and his female, and 2 babies playing 'king of the castle' in the rocks-

then something else caught my eye, and above there was a pair of red kites soaring- wonderful

Re: Nature at its best...

OH is the photographer in the family and he wasn't there, I never have a camera with me- I take pictures with my head and heart-

so it never happened then

Mind you, it was not in Switzerland, but in nearby France, underneath the impressive Chateau de Joux, of Mirabeau and Toussaint l'Ouverture fame. In winter there are often huge groups of chamois there.

Oh wow! Sounds amazing! This country is breathtaking, every so often my husband stops and says to me "Do you know where we are?" (No, he doesn't have memory problems ). Even after 15 years here, we cannot believe our luck.
Don't suppose you got a photo Odile?

Edit....I was too slow!

Re: Nature at its best...

We drove along there yesterday and the flowers were very beautiful. OH very narrowly missed a bird of prey if some sort at it swooped down in front if the car but we didn't see the chamois. Didn't take any photos either but maybe we will on the way back on Sunday.

Phones, now come with cameras, apparently.

If you hit a Chamois with a car, at least you won't have to polish it afterwards.

Re: Nature at its best...

If you are at Les Grattes near Rochefort NE, look up and you will see some life size Chamois carved in wood and placed on the steep hill side. The first time I thought they were real. http://map.search.ch/les-grattes/bif...de,service,geo

Well yes, but I rarey have my phone with me... and I don't know how to post direct from phone. Yes, I am indeed an old dinosaur. I have my own private photographer, and he is very talented- but he wasn't with me today- and he is allergic to Forums and FB- so there

Not such a mobile phone, then. Why would anyone need a phone when they're out driving alone on quiet country roads?

Everything can be synched through Google, between gadgets and computers, and attached in the usual way.

(Android to Apple, but typically Apple, not vice-versa; but obviously to laptop or PC)
