Commuting in Switzerland north-south

Hi, I'm planning to move somewhere around the Schwyz area. I will probably have a part-time job in Zürich and already have another job in Lugano.

Would you consider possible living somewhere in between the two cities, commuting to Lugano Mon-Thu and to Zürich Thu-Sat?

I think it's hard now, being the AlpTransit not yet available. But I heard the duration of journeys north-south will be much shorter by then.

I'd be thankful to hear your opinions, or better if anyone has done something similar.

Best

No problem at all with the train, Arth-Goldau looks about halfway, http://fahrplan.sbb.ch/bin/query.exe...=JS!ajax=yes!&

Re: Commuting in Switzerland north-south

if you take the train it should be possible, good connections. but you will need to consider the amount of time you spend commuting, it will add up and you will probably have to leave quite early in the morning and arrive late in the evening back to your home in SZ.

Just my two rappen, but I would pick one or the other. Sounds like minimal quality of life to me with the majority of your time spent on a train. Plus I would not do Zurich-Lugano-Schwyz on the same day (which is what you indicate for Thursdays) . Also you say that you've heard the north-south journey will be shorter "by then." When is then?

Re: Commuting in Switzerland north-south

Yes, it should happen in 2016.

And, of course, commuting is definitely not my dream. But I'd like to progressively move every activity in norther Switzerland, so this would be a temporary situation only.

Thanks.
