I am so glad we will have moved back to Switzerland in time for Christmas. It simply isn't the same with the cold. So excited

My Swiss partners first Xmas in Sydney wasnt what she imagined...
Santa on his sleigh on the beach being dragged along by a tractor and the Christmas candles drooping over from the hot days. AC on full blast because of high 30s temps. Life savers wearing Xmas hats/antlers etc. Still living 30 meters from the waters edge made up for it all.
My best Xmas moments are winter camping trips in the Bernise Oberland with the tent oven in full swing and decorating a small pine. Those solitatry moments, just me and the forest alows me to fully appreciate just how lucky we are in SUI.
I enjoy the family fun and happily tolerate heated arguments between family members who havent seen each other for a year. Good and bad allways co-exist.
Merry Christmas everyone !!!

My favorite is putting up my tree. (We are doing it tonight in fact.) I have ornaments from my great-grandparents and one from every trip we've taken, and other special occasions. I love thinking about all of the people and memories that go with each one as I put them on the tree.
This is absolutely my favorite time of year - Nov - Feb.

Oh! How I miss Christmas back before!
The warm, glittery aroma of lingamberries baking on an open window; the sparkle of the maize lanterns dangling over the spires; the eager anticipation of the humpelmen knocking at the door with their bulging hairy sacks filled with onions, sweetbreads and moist, chewy doorknobs; the weary sleep before a bright noon of wildsong and brine; the spiny fronds of outmire, waggling in the hazy sprigs of winter sunshine; the glass jars filled to the brindle with candied potatoes, spicy and loud; the toffee-coloured fumidors, furry to the touch; the waynes and the spirrocks, all aghast at the pinkness of the snow.
Christmas is nice, but I wish it was like it ought to have been.

The John Lewis one with Monty the Penguin - i know what the story is every time, but still have a wee tear in my eye.
I suppose by the end of December i shall be swearing and moaning about it. But for now - I like.

Can we have a photo?
