5CHF40 for 1/2 kilo- is that expensive?

or 32CHF for 6 kg, for sodium bicarb.

Again, go to a good ironmongers or drugstore, not Migros or even Denner! If you buy the small sachets to make cake mix, yes it would be very expensive!
Yes I know, but most people don't, see countless threads on EF.

Yeah, as long as you buy your baking soda in the USA. Using Swiss baking soda would cost you an arm and a leg.
Or an arm and a... hammer?

Ttamasle, sorry to burst your bubble, but La Croix Javel has the same concentration of chlorine bleach as all the versions at Migros, Coop, Denner, Aldi, Lidl, Baumarkt, Jumbo, Landi etc.. It's just the same stuff.
Which is the same concentration as Clorox.

Tom

I was treating the whole matter as if serendipity was on my side.
Alas...it was.
It's spelt "stupidity".

Good news for Op but I don't find anything in Switzerland that dirty so whatever they have in stock sure does the job.
I remember concentré de javel from the 80ies in France. Did that make France cleaner than Switzerland? I let you the judge of that.

Same concentration, yes, but Chlorox Bleach contains a number of other chemicals besides sodium hypochlorite and water (= Eau de Javel), namely sodium chloride (kitchen salt) as a stabilizer, sodium carbonate (washing soda) to break down grease stains and alcohol, sodium hydroxide (lye) to further break down fatty or acidic stains, and sodium polyacrylate as a dispersant.

I can also recommend the bleach tablets from Migros. You get them in the laundry section. They save you having to lug bottles of bleach around, are much smaller, and are great for chucking in the laundry with whites every once in a while to freshen them up.
