Ah thanks- will have plenty of those 3 next week (Adelboden for half term with the grand-children). If we walk to the top of the hill behind us, we can get a good view too. From Les Rasses- practically the whole of the alpine chain on a good day.

My apartment was filled with lovely sunshine around 4.30. It was such a surprise that it made me get out of my chair to see who had turned the lights on!

I'm impressed, an American who can spell!

You're right though, the sunset was really amazing again tonight.... I''m spoilt with a view across fields toward the full glory of a snow covered Jura; it's amazing on evenings like this.

My daughter is learning the right names for all the colours. Every end of afternoon, we leave the motorway at Belmont, which offers us a spectacular view over the Leman lake. My daughter and I then try to describe all the colours of the sunset in front of us

I had this view out of the classroom in Primary School for three years

and out of the classroom in Secondary School for 4 years. I admit, that it did not exactly improve our performance

Re: Go outside RIGHT NOW and look at the sky.

We are in the very fortunate position of having the view of the the sun rising over the alps in the morning and setting over the Jura in the evening.

The sunset was indeed beautiful yesterday evening and the sunrise this morning was equally beautiful, even more so because I was watching it from the comfort of my nice warm bed.
Looks like another beautiful day is on the cards today, that's makes over a week of lovely sunny days now.

if the sky is beautiful during the day, it's also beautiful at night.

Spent some time watching Jupiter this early morning

Second that

For those with binoculars, or VERY dark skies comet Lovejoy is currently visible near Andromeda. This is towards the west, about 50 degrees up from the horizon (at ~ 9 pm)

Finding chart:
http://www.skyandtelescope.com/astro...ght-122920141/

Saw it using binoculars from Gurten near Bern last evening, and then from the rooftop of my building as well. Today should be good for viewing as well.

Re: Go outside RIGHT NOW and look at the sky.

Woke up this morning to beautiful bright sunshine - but everything 10 meters below us invisible. The fog has risen, though, and now we too are completely enveloped.

One of those oh-how-I-wish-I-had-my-camera moments in the garden with the mutts - as the fog rose, it looked like Hooligan and Heffalump were levitating.

I actually like 'Nebelsuppesaison'.

Re: Go outside RIGHT NOW and look at the sky.

One of the joys of living further up in winter- the brilliance of the sunshine and skies, and the lack of fog. This week is again a good example of inversion of temperatures, where is is warmer up at 1000m than at 550 by the lake.

Gorgeous. Lots of hoar frost this morning as it was a very cold totally clear night but it is 12C outside now, and the thermometer against the south facing window says 28.6 lol.
