He used this one but the one above looks very similar.

http://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/r...tartes-tatins/

It works just as week in a large tin rather than individual ones. He's done both.
Heading to Coop today
Am I correct to assume that he used Blätterteig? If so, did he use Butter-Blätterteig or the regular Blätterteig? thanks

There is only one real Blätterteig and it has to be full of butter.
I mean, if you do it yourself it is usual 1:1, half flour half butter (and some water and a little of salt).

Yes the butter blätterteig and the stuff you buy in the blocks and roll out yourself not the pre-rolled stuff.

Just came back from the COOP with my bag full of goodies:

4 mangoes
6 avocados
1 pomegranate
12 kiwis
2 papayas

I had to educate my other half in the art of getting the maximum possible into the bag. He had a pineapple, 3 kiwis, 2 avocados and a pomegranate in his one until I pointed out the individual item prices and the fact that a 3.95 chf pineapple was taking the space of 3 or 4 2.95 chf mangoes.
It's better to buy a pineapple seperately than waste space in the bag with one IMO.
He's useless at packing suitcases or the car so I should have I ein he'd be equally useless in the fruit packing department.

What does the bag cost and where do you pick it up?

The plastic bags are next to the fruit on offer. The bag cost 9.95 chf and you stuff as much fruit as you can get in there.
My six avocados alone would have been more than 9.95 so it really is a bargain as long as you can eat it all.

So, I did the fill-your-own thing and ended up with

2 avocados
4 mangoes
12 kiwis

3.8kg

I see I didn't win the EF contest

Well, you beat me. Our local Coop was out of avocados, mangoes and papayas so I didn't even bother. I like kiwis but not enough to fill an entire bag with just them.

Since I missed out on the last deal where you bought half of Switzerland in avocados I'd say we're even.

Guac recipe please?

My guacamole recipe is very simple, and we eat it as a spread on bread (schnittli).

avocadoes
vinegar - or a lot of lemon juice for acidity
lemon juice
dill, the dry stuff
salt

From this base you can use other spices as well - spicy, or with cumin (not kümmel which is caraway) etc. Let your imagination go wild.

We are binging on mangoes, while the sale lasts.

Same problem here - either they're on to our scheming or half of EF has been into the Coop in Fribourg Centre!

Despite a rather large display: No mangoes, no avocados, 2 wrinkly papaya, 3 kiwi and a couple of pineapples was all that was left

They must have sent it all to Neuchâtel, there was loads if everything here even after I'd been there.

Fribourg Centre re-stocked this morning:
Total = 6 mangoes, 3 avocados (held myself back because they were already quite ripe), and 6 kiwifruit

Sigh. Still no mangoes.

1 papaya
8 avocadoes (all they had, 15 minutes before closing)
14 kiwis

... which on further reflection strikes me as about 8 kiwis too many. Oh, they'll get eaten... but I suspect I'll be a bit tired of them by the end.

So that explains your pile-of-green-hairy-fruit-and-nothing-else-on-the-plate dinner this evening.

I was wondering why you seemed so keen on the revolting articles...

It's called triage, my dear chap. The green-bumpy-fruit and the larger-yellowy-greeny-smooth-fruit weren't as ripe so they can wait.

(Also I forgot to buy any chips for scooping up guacamole with.)

Just an fyi, I found out that kiwi burns like the dickens when touching cut skin , but avocado surprisingly gets rid of the burn almost instantly.

Re: Coop "fill-your-own" fruit/vege bags....how full?

At Stadelhofen last night I managed:

8 Avocados
2 Mangoes
6 Kiwis
1 Pomegranate

No papaya there at 8 pm or I would have sacrificed a few Kiwis - they are only 60 rappen each!

I made guacamole last nigh, I love mashed avo on toast for breakfast and I can sense a retro avo and prawn cocktail for supper this week - oh bliss!!!

Went to Stradelhofen today to get more fruit and unfortunately the deal is over again anyone know when the next fill-your-bag deal will be?

Ha! I'm now imagining a kind of tetris style game loading up the bags... If you pick individual grapes (assuming they're included in the offer) off the stalk, you could fit them into the gaps between larger fruits...
