Kreuzlingen/Winterthur/Zürich - Where to live?

Hi all,

We are looking for feedback/advice on an ideal place to live based on the following:

I am German and my husband in American. He will likely start working in Winterthur next year. We have a four-year-old daughter who is bilingual (stronger in English as a result of living her whole life in the U.S.). None of us speaks any Swiss German. At the moment, we are looking at Kreuzlingen, Winterthur, and Zurich as options. Are there certain parts of these cities where we would be more likely to find a larger population of ex-pats (Americans and/or Germans) to ease the transition? What about public (or international) schools?

Thank in advance for your help!

Re: Kreuzlingen/Winterthur/Zürich - Where to live?

With your husband working in Wintherthur, the Winterthur area would make sense. There are many international schools in the Zürich area, while I do not know about Wintherthur or Kreuzlingen in this respect. Your kid in school however will profit from the knowledge in Standard German which is school language here anyway. For YOU Kreuzlingen would be practical as just a few steps away from Konstanz. But please realize that the Konstanzer in real life speak dialect also
