| | Stolen bike and child trailer in Basel
Hey everybody.
I had my bike and child trailer stolen outside our house in Oberwil, Basel on Friday night/Sat morning.
Of course all the police stations have been shut until tomorrow (not thwt they would do anything about a stolen bike,,,,,), but I have been out scouring the streets of the local area, but with no luck.
Could I ask local folks to keep an eye out for;
The bike is a cheapo Decathlon Sport 2 'racing' bike. Its blue and white. It has a mirror on the left side of the handle bars. It also has a fairly rare pannier rack fixed via the quick release skewer. It also has a ridiculously short (80mm) stem, but I doubt anyone would get close enough to see that!!! But these are the things that will make a bit easier for me to spot.
The trailer is a blue Croozer kid for 1. Mostly generic, but with 1 and a half 'Finding Nemo' stickers on the left hand window.
I've made up some fliers with details and my info on, to stick up at local Coops, lampposts and tram stops, but what is the etiquette of putting these up? Is it frowned upon?
I'm checking ricardo.ch, leboncoin.fr and ebay.de but is there anywhere else you can think of looking?
Its annoying, but mainly its just bloody inconvenient to now go about trying to track it down and/or replace everything!
I mean, it is obviously a 'children's' item. I'd have thought stealing children's things might have been on most peoples' moral compass as a 'NO.' I guess I am just a bit naive!
Hope you all had a good long weekend!

I am a bit surprised about the child trailer, but in regard to the bike, my guess is that it WAS blue and White and now is red or green or silver

How annoying! This happened to friends of ours a few years back. Their bike and trailer were then used in an attempted burglary at a jewelery store soon after. Our friend had to report to the police who verified that he did not match the description of the burglar.

Did you have it insured? If you have a household insurance it should be covered but the theft must be registered with the police.
Unfortunately, the chances of recovering the bike are minimal but it may have been taken mainly for the trailer which could be easier to spot.

Thanks all for your advice.
I thought i would give a quick update.
I did report it to the police on Tuesday morning. So that's done.
I'm keeping an eye on the websites that were suggested.
Not seen olx.ch belfore and had forgotten about tutti.ch so thank you very much for those suggestions.
I did indeed put a picture of both the bike and trailer on my leaflet.
For future reference,
The policeman said that I shouldnt REALLY put them up on lamposts etc and I would have to speak to BLT about putting them at tram stops.
He was actually much more helpful after I had explained that I have been looking for it myself in the local area and I showed him my posters.
I guess if they see you helping yourself, they are more likely to help you too. (Maybe that is just my experience with this specific guy?)
Anyway, thanks again for the suggestions. Most appreciated.
Such a lot of faff/hassle and all for someone to get home after a drunken night when they couldnt be bothered to take a bus/tram! Ahhhh well.

oxl.ch is a partner of ricardo for petit anounces, so they stay online longer and there are so many items being reported on a regular basis. A friend of mine reported some fake designer stuff and additionally, a couple of friends had pictures of their stuff in ricardo stolen and being 'sold' in oxl...so do check it!
