Train runs every twenty minutes from my local station to Zurich city...train is running 3 minutes late...due to waiting for the vintage steam train to go past... train driver apologises for the delay...
The bus from St Peter Pagig to Chur is running late - say 10mins or so - but more than enough to prevent the people catching the trains to civilisation - bus driver calls ahead, gets confirmation the trains will be held for as long as possible - bus driver tells passengers - they all make their trains. Re: TIS - This Is Switzerland

Tram in Geneva got malfunctioned at some random stop, so the people at the stop where i was started to get worried after a 15 minutes delay. I pulled out my smartphone, browsed to tpg.ch and checked that there was a tram not functioning and the track was blocked. Just before i did that, an old man sitting next to me on the stop whispered "it must be a malfunctioning tram at blabla stop" and it turned out to be true at the TPG site. Truly TIS

Keep telling my 3 year old that she needs to keep out of the way when I'm ironing my shirt. Then she casually drops in yesterday morning that they have their own (small but real) iron at school for ironing the napkins... TIS
Did you ask her if the boys also have their own iron? If yes, then TINRS=This is not really Switzerland.

We all know TIA - This Is Africa - which explains why something is simply because it is in Africa. Example: 20 people loaded into the back of a bucky.

There is also TIS - This is Switzerland - which explains why something is simply because it is in Switzerland.

Kicking things off.
- A friend left their phone on top of their bag at the pool, going off to another section for 45mins. They went back and their phone was still there. TIS

- Going to test drive a car and the dealer just hands you the keys - no scanning of licence or going with you. TIS

- Buying a watch for 10k, calling the insurance to add it as an individual item only to be told that you only need to name items over 20k. TIS

- Buying a 25 year old car and finding it has all the documents including original "Dealer map of Europe (without the M25!!!!)" and a service book covering 25 years and 250,000km with every service done at a BMW dealer. TIS

its Bakkie

I left my sunglasses and flipflops next to the pool in Fribourg once. Both gone when I got back - is Fribourg maybe too close to the French border?

Ha yes. My son came home from chindsgi and announced "today we learned how to cut oranges with a big knife!. Also while I was at a friend's house, her son showed us this "cool trick" he learned in his kindergarten, lighting an empty teabag on fire and watching it float, burning, up into the air over all the kids' heads! dearie me haha.

Re: TIS - This Is Switzerland

There is a shop in the next village that sells "vintage" things for the garden. They have most of their wares outside, some look very heavy, most don't.
When they close in the evening, they don't bother to put things inside... what's the point, everything is there in the morning...TIS

People in Switzerland have overpaid Billag for years (VAT was illegally charged on the radio and television reception fee). Hardly anyone are claiming their money back. TIS.

Went to a BBQ with friends yesterday. Everyone at the table switched between Swiss German, High German, French and English from one sentence to the next without skipping a beat, depending on whom they were talking to. Well, except me. Even the kids at the gathering were fluent in SG, HG and French. TIS
