99% of the kids?
Shouldn't that be in the The xenophobic Swiss culture thread?

Or Bulgaria. As far as Swiss people know, you're all the same anyway.

Young families find themselfes in struggles to get a school or crib-place where their kids can stay over Lunchtime. Hard times for both working parents and yet the country gets to vote about whether its cows should grow horns or not - TIS

Re: TIS - This Is Switzerland

Received a call from the owner of a Brockenhaus (= second-hand goods shop) to say she'd got a sewing-machine in. Went there with a friend to look at it. Brockenhaus overfull, no place to set up the machine, to test it.

My friend suggested: "Let's take it back to your place and test it there. We could be back within an hour."

The shop owner nodded, said that seemed fine, and didn't for a moment consider requesting any deposit.

LOL, nope it's not. I referred to a book - a very old one - written by a Brit about Brits. As even the Brits don't remember that book I doupt many Swiss ever read it.

It was great fun. There was a time when the Brits were able to laugh about themselves and their peculiarities and they did it well. Every now and then I still meet one with that special humor but I think they're dying out quickly.

However, I should not refer to stuff nobody knows/remembers, specially not in the snowflake-age. Thanks for the hint.

Yesterday driving through a major junction in dubendorf, the traffic lights were switched off and a group of 12 year olds in hi vis jackets were taking turns to direct the traffic (under adult supervision).

Re: TIS - This Is Switzerland

My wife had a doctor's appointment and she got a reminder message on her phone about half an hour beforehand.
The message also said the roads are clear and the journey will take 15 minutes by car!
