Yesterday hubby put his wallet on the car roof while he was strapping in the baby in the car seat. He then drove off, forgetting the wallet which fell down on the ground.

This morning a kind neighbour rang at our door to bring back said wallet, with everything still inside.

Neighbour knocks on the door at 2.10pm to ask why my laundry is not in the washing machine in my laundry room yet when I have booked the room for 2pm. TIS

Buses go past a given bus stop either exactly on time or a minute or two before. TIS.

Shop assistant obstinately refuses to sell me a pair of reasonably high priced shoes because it is a teeny weeny bit too big. TIS.

Also happened to me on a days ski trip, AND my fellow coursemates bought me lunch that day.

Bridges over the river in town have "normal" flower hung over the railings. They are not stolen or vandalised. TIS

Submitted an insurance claim on Friday - confirmation email today it will be paid in full. TIS

I miss the Sensation. ALL the flowers on roads and bridges are NORMAL flowers and generally neither vandalized nor stolen.

Farmers leave unsecured rotavators/mowers outside overnight and they are still there the next day. TIS

Flew from Geneva to Florence on Thursday. I realized as I sat down on the aircraft that I had left tablet, GPS, e-reader and camera at security control (it was very busy, all our bags were flagged to be checked and we were kept waiting about 15 minutes with my things in the tray and our bags waiting).
I get a call the same evening from Swissport saying they had my things (the tablet has my numbers on it) - I listed what was missing but forgot the camera. I was asked if I had a Nikon camera, to which I replied "no" (our camera is Canon and I didn't at that point realise that it wasn't in the bag - it's in a Nikon case and I didn't twig). Came back on Sunday, it was all waiting for me, and although it took a bit longer to find the camera this was my fault for not telling them earlier that it was mine. So - pretty much everything of value left at security, phonecall to say they had my stuff, nothing missing and only 20CHF out of pocket (the charge for returning my items to me). TIS.

Why should they NOT be there next day ?

In Switzerland they are not - but in a lot of "civilised" countries people would have stolen them or the "yoof" would have thrown them in the river - or broken them.

A lot of TIS you simply won't understand if you haven't live somewhere ghastly and foreign.

The whole point of TIS is that there are a lot of things we take for granted that elsewhere simply can't happen because an undesirable minority spoil it for the majority.

Well, London U.K. and Texas are NOT ghastly. and I do not see those territories as foreign- The same applies to the Maghreb, Egypt and Lebanon

Family out for a meal in a restaurant and order a steak tartar. It is for the 10 year old. TIS

Am I missing something?

Having gone to Germany today for a shopping mission, noticed that:

- Pedestrian crossings are lacking. Perhaps CH has too many but you do get used to them.
- The little hooks for dogs outside shops were also missing

However turns out I had the wrong ticket on the train back (fault of the guy in the ticket office) so the German train inspector just shrugged. TIG?

i don't see what's wrong with that, I had my first around that age too and i liked it very much. unless the parents took less expensive dishes, in that case yeah it's a bit meh, unless it was his birthday or something obviously

Went for a hike and had lunch in a mountain restaurant. At time if paying I remembered that my wallet was in the hotel safe. Walk of shame to the waitress, who simply said: "just put the money in an envelope marked for us and give it to the lift people down in the village tomorrow, they will bring it to us."

I walked all the way back to the restaurant the day after to have lunch once again (what can I say, food was good) and pay what I owed.

Doctors appointment at 9am. I was told to arrive early for registration. Done. I am sitting on the chair outside the office for my appointment and at 8.59am the doctor comes out "Frau D"? Oh yeah, I like it.
I'm sure there are unfortunates out there but I have never had anything but super service and no, I am not privately insured.

A 40s or 50s office workers biking to work had a tiny cow bell on his bike. TIS
