Obligatory TIS:
Walk into a refurbished restaurant with complete modern design eating area. Toilets still the ones from the 1960s.

And in spite of begin from the 1960ies they are in perfect repair, as if they'd been installed yesterday. TIS.

You buy a single one day pass with half-tax and the whole family can happily use it interchangeably throughout the day

Elsewhere they are talking about immigrants, politics and terrorism. In Switzerland, heated debates arise regarding the blandness of Swiss food.

Re: TIS - This Is Switzerland

At the Christmas market the other day, I sold a jar of chile jam to the former mayor of our town (after he tried some).

He insisted on paying CHF 10, as he felt the CHF 7 asking price was too low.

TIS!

Wrote a complaint to Swiss regarding a missed connection at Zurich airport, wrote the complaint on Saturday. Expected eventually a cordial apology following the usual airline template. Received Yesterday an email with the cordial apology and flight voucher for 50CHF - turnaround time impressive 48hours. TIS

Re: TIS - This Is Switzerland

Just came back from the glass recycling centre near us ...

Boot of my car loaded by three heavy containers with bottles jars and by-accident-broken pottery. In all possiblle colours available from the bottle stores. As I was off-loading the last one with stream of sweat dripping from my forehead, the stylish lady in Punto pulled around and blocked my drive-way with one empty jar to drop off. I stared at her in disbelief kinda "Is it worth it ...?", she measured me with an angry glance reading inbetween the lines "What ... ?". I shook my head "Never mind ...".

TIS!

I do hope that you didn't put the pottery in with the glass.

Re: TIS - This Is Switzerland

went to Ikea this weekend to buy a new computer chair.
Cost of chair: CHF 199
Cost ikea wanted to charge me to assemble it: CHF200 +17% the value of the chair (without delivery).
In most other ikeas around the world, cost of assembly is in the low 30s for us that cant be bothered and just wanna chuck the finished product in a van...

Way to take something with humor.

Hi EFers

I read this story in 20min:

At a train station someone's destroyed bike lock was photographed, with a note attached to it which stated (translating from CH-DŁtsch):

"Morning ****

I stole my bike back. Thanks for returning it to the "scene of the crime". I hope that it served you well in the past three weeks, but now you'll have to start walking again.

Merry Christmas

********"

Re: Way to take something with humor.

Is there a Schweizerdeutsch word for bitch?

Sorry, I meant ****.

Oh, and it must be the OG, street thug connotation rather than a female dog.

Now that would be funny.

And maybe this should be in the TIS thread? Who else writes revenge notes with gold sprinkle stars and lovingly encased in a plastic sleeve? So civilized.
