More of a rant than a serious thread, but I've been in Sternen Oerlikon for almost a year now and it's worse than my experience in Athens...
After about a month moving in, some dimwit stole a nice Cannondale bike I had - a bike that by the way I got from someone in here 2 years ago... One of the last ones to be made in the US, great paintjob from the factory, I was really bummed, but I said WTF move on and forget about it.
Then spring came, my gf wanted a bike again, so a friend gave her his after he left CH. 3 weeks later bike was stolen. The last one was a nice aluminium Cannondale, this one was a complete POS city bike, nothing special really. I understand the Cannondale being stolen, why would anyone go and try to break/cut/pick a heavy lock for a POS bike?
And yesterday afternoon I took the bike for a short ride and I realised that my blue L sign was missing. Well I say missing, I mean broken. Thank god they didn't break anything else I suppose, that's where it's come to... Thanking our lucky stars for not having our stuff completely vandalised
And don't even get me started on the parades of drunk schoolkids strolling at the wee hours shouting and doing stupid shit like taking foldable chairs and sitting on the sidewalk for a smoke and a drink or whatever...
And the police station is like 5 blocks away.
I lived in the shithole of a city that Athens is for 7 years, and I never got stolen anything or had any problems. Yes personal experiences, and yes in general ZH is much better, I'm not an imbecile, but let me vent, will ya?
In Athens if you were strolling afterhours in a neighbourhood shouting and bullshitting around, the police might not come, but if anyone would bother, you would definitely get your head kicked in...
If the apartment wasn't that nice, and my gf didn't love the location like she does, there's no chance in hell I'd stay any longer. Oh how I miss freaking Leimbach...
