In another life... what might your username be?

I'm afraid it's another of those 'I'm planning a novel, please let me pick your brains.' thread...

Suppose that, in the world of a book, there existed this country called Switzerland. Imagine a forum for expats... Totally unlike this one, naturally.

Now think of a poor writer who is stuck between the Scylla of not wanting to take ANYTHING AT ALL from the real EF and the Charybdis of not having enough imagination to replicate the sheer ingenuity of usernames seen on EF...

So, anyone willing to think of a username for me? If you feel really creative, you can give your imaginary user a role on the forum too. I promise, of course, that I will not base any users in my book on anyone in this forum or copy any discussions from this forum... I can come up with that, I'm just not very good at naming characters and to name the cast of a book AND a skeleton cast of a forum is too much for my little brain...

Please help! I'll thank you in the acknowledgments...

Victoria

There's only so much suspension of disbelief an author can get away with.

Hey, he's given me a username and a characteristic... I'm not going to knock that!

Just think, within this imaginary world, you can be whoever you want to be...

Re: In another life... what might your username be?

why even give him a name at all?

just create a persona that has low tolerance for bullshit and tries to be rational and/or funny with few, and to-the-point, posts. perhaps make him avoid all uppercase letters.

I like the user name "SwissMissBehaving" as it has so very many implications.

So thats "manwhocan'tsigncheques" sorted.

You'll have Tim with user name St2Limes who is wonderfully patient, never groans anyone, can't cook, has no mechanical skills and buys absolutely everything in Switzerland.

And don't forget you'll need 2,000 members who rarely post but when they do it is to praise something in Switzerland -at which point everyone will agree and cite how much worse it is where they come from.

Re: In another life... what might your username be?

Oh dear oh dear... have I started the infamous "Friday thread"?

Please have pity... if you think you've got it bad being bored at work, I'm stuck in a psychiatric hospital and they won't let me go off the ward to the first floor, let alone outside for some fresh air...

I was going to write:
Maybe the board will sign you off as well enough to be reintegrated next time round?

But thought that unfair, so:
I'm in room 28 - pop down and speak to the both of us

We should strive to be whoever we want to be in the real world, not the virtual one! (says the person who always loved to read because it allowed me to create imaginary worlds in my head).

If I wasn't BT, I'm not sure who I'd be - maybe "Hallocanyouhearme?" or "Notinamillionyears" or "Heretemporarily" or "Guesswhat?".

If I knew I could pull it off, I'd pretend to be male, 30s, a great cook, an even better lover, a high earner (pharma, obviously), handy with my tools (all of them) and handsome to boot.

A bit of a cross between AdrianL, VillageI, NIT Tom (NotInTicinoTom), Paddy, DKen and MidG. I couldn't get away with intelectual, so that's DB out.

My name would be HelloLadieeees

And now the gossip mill starts as to which one of them is the supposed great lover - and how you know....
