Where is that? Sounds wonderful!

Jorat. What a bliss. The fields and garden arounds are full of kids and kittens running, there are cows just nearby...if anyone is coming (and got tix in advance since there are none), yesterday the traffic around Lausanne was bad. My kid was taken to la regie and had a crash course on lighting and theatre direction. The apero they do after is all home made too, with local wines. We will do the same piece in Nyon in Nov, but it ain't Jorat.

Re: I smiled because...

When I saw the travel tickets to go to Brasília to pass the Christmas day with my mom and brothers and sisters, the tickets normally cost US$ 520 for going and back!! This kind of price I could take a plane to travel abroad. If I'm very luck, I found ones in US$ 240.
That's sure I live in other side from Brazil, on border French Guiana, but I'm still in Brazil! Everything here is so expensive, gosh!

Re: I smiled because...

I finally convinced my husband to accompany me on a trip to Israel. I am bursting with excitement at the thought of going back, it's been 11 years since I was there!!! He has never been and, quite frankly, it's about time he visits such a wonderful country.

It's the perfect time actually: after 11 years, my ex domestic partner and I - whom we are bound to run into, if we go to Israel - have resolved all our past emotional/legal/property/paperwork issues, are both married to other people, and are on non-yelling/ friendly speaking terms, so there won't be any embarrassment when we run into each other.

Many reasons to smile

Re: I smiled because...

First smile is because I got great new students.

Second smile was feeling my hair still wet from the morning gym when I was at work, later. It is nice to be reminded.

Re: I smiled because...

Because the large uni subway entrance corridor just got all painted bright pink. Including the ground, everything. The dirty shoe prints and drink/ice cream stains look funny.

And another giggle I get these days from uni students who have video conferences with committees or distance advisors and profs. Sitting in front of their laptops they only wear upper half of suits/preppy clothes, and flipflops and shorts on the bottom half.

Re: I smiled because...

I smiled bc I played dodgeball with my husband in a children play arena while our 11-mo girl was busy playing by herself. It is sometimes difficult to remember how to have fun as new parents :-)

Because the chap I secretly fancy told me I smelled nice after having hugged me goodbye. Yes, I sound like a teenager - I don't give a damn.

The lady behind me in the supermarket came to find me in the carpark with the new tube of lipstick I'd just purchased and left behind. It actually made my day ...

(even if I would have done the same, not everyone would have made the effort).

Re: I smiled because...

I saw a really good show today, it pulled spectators in, great performance. And it was funny, too. Great music.

If they perform where you are, go and see it. I think I am going to mix my bouldering sessions with dance sessions, again.

Re: I smiled because...

Sometimes people using public transport can be a-holes. Other times, like today, they are a godsend and restore my faith in humanity.

I am hobbling around with a cast and crutches. I had a terrible day, mostly due to the pain.

A kind man gave up his seat on the full bus so I could sit down for the ride to the main train station. When the train arrived at my home station, a woman saw me slowly making my way down the stairs to cross to the other side (our station has no ramp). She put her hand on my arm and asked if I was okay, and would like her to tell the bus driver to wait for me.

Huge thanks to both of those strangers, for making a crap day slightly less horrible.

Re: I smiled because...

I found my son's other glove on the bus. The driver answered me in really fast fluent Swiss German, so I guess what I said did sound intelligible. C1, here I come ...
Ah, to be fluent, now that would be a thing.
