What is that? Never heard of it. Google said, it happens on February 2nd .... did I fall asleep sometime in December?!
You've never seen Groundhog Day? You're probably too young.

I got a parcel last year after we got back from Christmas in the UK. This year, got back from Christmas in the UK, got a parcel.
Same thing happened, therefore Groundhog Day.
The plot in the film was that the same day kept repeating over and over again.

Edit... I love you too. Well, it is Christmas.

Okey, I take the plunge as a bi-shopper, as in Coop and Migros, but 99% Lidl, so I am hopefully safe from an evil stare from Zurirollt. :-P

The parcels are from Coop, they are for Supercard holders. You can enter a contest with your supercard number and if you get drawn as a winner, you get this parcel full of goodies, sponsored from a variety of brands sold within Coop.

You can sign up via the COOP website.......and as this special Thank you is repeated every year and as Hannah's Auntie has been blessed to win twice = Groundhog Day

Tscheggsch iz?

ROFL, I am a supercard-holder - a left over from my marriage, the things guys bother about - never heard of that though. I'm probably the least integrated person in this country.

Re: I smiled because...

I'm among the first to grumble at bad customer service/relations, so it's only fair to praise those who go a step extra to help or do something nice.

Two examples:

The local garage sent me a Christmas card - with a highway vignette included. A nice 'thanks for your business' gesture. And you can be certain he will continue to get my business.

Called my Krankenkasse to get a copy of something I needed for an upcoming hospital stay - and included in the paperwork was a get well card signed by the person who took my call. A little gesture, one that made a very good impression.

I didn't realize this was a lottery. I got one, too, and marveled at how much work, logistically speaking, must have been to give one to every Coop member, because I thought that each member received one.

I'll stop grumbling that not all the goodies were organic then, and say thank you instead.

....my newly inherited dog is sleeping on the floor in my home office, and has just decided to "chase rabbits" in her sleep. Little paws waving and woofy/snuffly noises emanating. SO cute

I wonder how did you get yours then, coz one had to take part in a kind of contest online, at least I had to, to get a letter with teh voucher that I could go and get my goodies.

Same procedure last year...

We got the voucher automatically in the post too, exactly the same as last year.

I think maybe they 'reward' regular customers and hold a lottery for everyone else.

Ha! That may be the crux of the matter, I suppose I never spend enough through the year at Coop to be granted that parcel automatically.
I only shop there occasionally for a few chosen items, such as the Tassimo discs or occasionally some branded product I don't get at my prefered cheapo supermarket

Yes, same here. We were pleasantly surprised to get one again this year.

Re: I smiled because...

A complete stranger here on EF offered a favour out of the blue. Yeah, well, some people do that easily, I know.
But she pulled it through. Within two weeks. My benefit from the favour turned out to be even much bigger than originally planned. And actually there was nothing in it for her.
Smiling about being at the receiving end of a these days seldom action.

Because it may just be possible that this thread reaches 2,222 posts before the end of this month; so many reasons for people to smile since it was started way back when
In fact, it makes me smile every time I see it pop up in the recent posts.
