I finished off Sour Organic Jelly Beans. They were so painfully sour and lovely. My tongue burns.

Re: I smiled because...

In the train from Goldau to Biberbrugg yesterday I felt compelled to correct two Swiss ladies who were guessing the name of the lake one sees on the right - Vierwaldstättersee? Aegerisee? I pointed out that it's actually the Lauerzersee! They were on their way to Einsiedeln and later I had to prevent them from stopping the train and getting out in Bibergegg instead of waiting it to reach Biberbrugg where they needed to change.
What would all the Swiss do without us aliens to keep them on the straight and narrow!

Because I look like I work for a wall-paper company, carying giant student posters on train today

And because it is overall a really lovely day. Had AC/DC and Harvey Milk on at work.

Re: I smiled because...

I enrolled a course, via internet, by a north american university and I have to dedicate hardly my time to English language . There is a long time I've promised myself to do it: to dedicate more to English than French language... and now no excuses., 'cause all of educational content is in English: writings, videos, assessments, etc. Bye-bye Portuguese and French language.

Re: I smiled because...

The town always puts plants in the little river running down the Main Street in Neuchâtel in the summer. Walking along there this afternoon I noticed that a lot of them are tomato plants with lots of lovely large tomatoes on them.

Re: I smiled because...

Found 100s of small black caterpillars on nettles near my compost heaps- and Googled them. Soon will have a magnificent show of peacock butterflies.

I am so glad we have learnt to tolerate patches of nettles and other 'weeds' - our nely adopted bees just love them too.

Re: I smiled because...

A couple of months ago, I was getting off from my house to work to the school, early morning, when the Federal Police from Brazil asked my papers and summoned me to engage to a seizure of property operation in that moment. There were more or less 20 policemen among Federal, Intelligent, Scientific polices in front of my house, everybody dressed in black.
During the operation, I asked them a certificate to offer to my work. Evereday I look at it and I intend to hang it on my wall as "the day that I acted in an police operation with the one of best polices from the world.

Re: I smiled because...

... because at last I've seen some Kingfishers close up and still, rather than fleeting glimpses at 100 miles an hour. Wonderful- the 3 youngsters have just left the nest but staying close by, right in fron of the bird hide, on a big branch - wonderful

Because the air smells divine in the evening..

Because I came across some really good teaching resources.

Because I found a serious research ornitology station that might take kids on board.

Deep decisions... which of my many pumpkins shall we eat for lunch today? Spaghetti, potimarron, lunga di napoli, cross spaghetti/courgette, sweet mama... . It's a good pumpkin year.

Re: I smiled because...

I just heard a segment on the radio entitled tight-tight-Datee done to the refrain from ice-ice-baby which delivered anecdotes of first-date stinginess. It reminded me of distant memories of elaborate Zurich bill-splitting and complex menu-item allocation that is guaranteed to spoil the mood. It's been a while...
