Ugh. As we're expected to fulfill every foreigners whim, I guess we have to put a few dolphins into the Brienzersee on Thursday

There used to be freshwater whales in the Walensee. That's how the lake got its name.

You should post that on Trip Advisor - it could be the new Loch Ness.

We could import some haggis as well; but we'd have to breed them to make the long-side legs longer for the steeper mountains here.

... I finally came to the realisation that a long-held ambition is actually a massive burden, so I've ditched it.

I feel like I can breathe again.

Good on ya. You can try to fight, kick and ram that door down but if it doesn't budge, it's time to find a new door.

Re: I smiled because...

I've decide to watch a movie to be relaxed, it's titled Swiss Conspiracy, an old movie. Well, when I saw many scenes in which some actors drinking whisky early morning in a bank and driving drunk without security belt, high speed in their ferraris in the autobahn, I thought how society values have changed during decades. Really, it's amazing ... it's worth to see it.

Because I can have my own statistician.

Because I made vegan curry without realizing.

Because it is the beginning of the new school year.

Re: I smiled because...

... I got into a childish argument with an American libertarian "dooooo proe-siessss!" type. He tried the ad hom: "You're a Brit - you live in a totalitarian state and don't even know it."

I told him I live in Switzerland.

Silence.

(I suspect only EF old timers will understand the pleasure in this)

Re: I smiled because...

I smiled over the weekend when I went to Lausanne (live in canton Zurich).

Was a bit like going on holiday to another country that has all the same rules and currency

He was probably trying to sort which one of those north countries next to Russia you were talking about, and to find a meme with a blonde bikini-clad girl for you.
