... two decades of misery have come to an end.

It's also quite an honour to have a world-class surgeon poking inside your head!

Rare conditions have their perks...

While I'm very glad for you that you had such a positive result from your surgeon's probing, I confess, it made something in my craw do a semi violent flip-flop at the thought.

Stay well.

Are you writing from this life, now, or from the next?
Either way, I'm very pleased to hear that the misery has ended!

Re: I smiled because...

A few days ago, I was walking to the local Coop with my wife, and a little girl with her mum pointed at me and very excitedly, insistently and repeatedly exclaimed "Pappi".

I have never seen the girl or her mother before - thankfully my wife believed me.

The fact that this thread keeps on going makes me smile every time I see it pop up.

Also, I may have finally managed to complete a degree, acceptance of thesis pending.

Fieldtrip. Fun overkill. We took students to SwissSkills and had a blast. And I could speak Swiss Deutsch.

Yay! That will solve a big nuisance in my car.

Looks like it will be an amazon.de case though as the Swiss ask double the price

Re: I smiled because...

There is a place in Geneva (place de Neuve) where there are no traffic signs and its a mix of cars, buses, trams, pedestrians and cyclists. Basically, its madness. Today i was following the GPS and it took me there. Im still shaking but i did it! Im so proud of myself!

Re: I smiled because...

.... one of my mechanics decided to apply logic. Yay!

After paying Fr. 600.00 to replace a lambda probe (did you know there are 2 - TWO - in a CitroŽn C4? Lord help me) because my new enemy (the board computer of my car) demanded it, yesterday the car stopped moving again and that light I detest by now came back on.

My new enemy wanted the temperature probe re water replaced this time. That darn thing got one of it's own - the one that tells me about the temperature of the water is apparently not good enough for it, although mine is right and it's is wrong. But the mechanic mentioned my damper flap is sooted (yep, I should do more miles, preferably on the highway) and if I don't mind we could try that first.
Maybe my speech about old times, common sense, logic etc. had some effect, who knows.
I don't know if my long term problem is solved now (and my enemy will shut up again for a long, long while) but the speed my little kitten took off every time I had to start (anfahren) was a pleasure that keeps the smile on my face well after I put it into the garage.

Better not buy CitroŽns in the first place, did you try Googling French Internet sites, probably somebody else already had the same problem and solved it. Did that with my car with two simultaneous difficult technical problems and it worked out fine, I was the one giving orders to the mechanic

... because we re-connected with OH's cousins from his childhood in CT, touring Italy and our local area for 2 weeks and it was such a privilege to find out so much about what the family went through in those dreadful times.

I learnt to master yeast today. Or yeast decided to surrender to me and do it's job.
This opens the door to a whole new range of food to me
