... I imagined dropping couscous all over the sofa and the dog helping me clean up. If she didn't, we'd be finding bits of it for years to come.

Re: I smiled because...

Because I can! A SMILE costs nothing, but gives much* It enriches those who receive, without making poorer those who give* It takes but a moment, but the memory of it sometimes lasts forever* None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it*

A SMILE creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the countersign of friendship* It brings rest to the weary, cheer to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad, and it is nature's best antidote for trouble* Yet it cannot be bought, begged, borrowed, or stolen, for it is something that is of no value to anyone until it is given away*

Some people are too tired to give you a SMILE* Give them one of yours, as none needs a SMILE so much as he who has no more to give.

*~*Author Anonymous*~ So Smile you lot on EF!

I smiled because I saw a McFondue, McRaclette an McRoesti on the McDonald's menu.

Actually it was more pissing myself laughing...

Mrs Texaner and I laughed at that too, but then — even though we promised we wouldn't set foot in McDonalds — we decided to split a McRösti. It was a decent sandwich, especially compared to what any US McDonalds serves up, but with the Rösti there's no need to offer pomme frites besides...

I tend to smile because i dont actually realise the seriousness of whatever situation ive got myself into.
having said that i also realise that most of the nasties that can get me already have and i hope and pray they wont get me again.
besides , smiling just feels GREAT and also hides my wrinkles in a goofy dopey kind of way.
lets just smile for the sake of it
nice philosophy !
I certainly would not be apologetic for being nice when faced with nasties.
Teaches nasties that there are other ways to live !

Re: I smiled because...

I try to smile every time I cross someone else's eyes. The effect is to get a smile back most of the times, which in turn makes me smile even more .

But the very last time I smiled was a few minutes ago, reading a friend's status on facebook, which goes: "I collect spores molds and fungus".

I'll read some of yours now, hunting for more smiles .

Ok, there seems to be quite a few threads about various disadvantages about so I'm going to be sickeningly cute and cuddly and suggest a thread where you can all tell us about the last thing that made you smile and maybe make others smile too. It's not all bad and life is absolutely too short. Go out, play in the sunshine, feed some ducks, smell the flowers and so on. Then, tell us about what made you smile.

And the last thing that made me smile is stumbling upon my reputation and seeing the lovely comments people took the trouble to make. Thank you!

Last thing that made me smile widely is when I tried to convince an English Forum member that it is a local habit to set all clocks at home to winter time, at the exact moment it occurs (3 am!!), and then knock on neighbouring doors to celebrate with champagne. Honestly it still makes me smile widely right now..

Re: I smiled because...

After an awful nights sleep, I drew back the curtains and on the pear tree outside there was a Woodpecker hammering away at the bark.
I was enthralled for nearly 10 minutes at this wonderful sight and feel like smiling everytime I think of it.

Re: I smiled because...

... there was a helicopter outside my window!

This helicopter, to be precise (photo not mine, I just googled the registration number):

It was out there for over an hour this afternoon, picking up pallets of something (someone said solar panels) and distributing them round to the roofs of various university buildings.
Ours didn't get a delivery, but it was still fun to watch.
