Employee: "Boss! I need a pay rise. Three companies are after me."
Boss: "Which ones?"
Employee: "Gas, electric and water!"

An oldie but a goody.

Re: I smiled because...

because the days are getting much longer - first time I got up when the sun was already over the mountain at 8am- a good 2 hours earlier than in Dec- and the red kites were already circling above the Church. (bad news is, window cleaning time and we have about 40 doubles!)

Re: I smiled because...

magnificent afternoon in the garden- this time of year when the winter visitors mix with those arriving - lots of sparrows, as always, several types of tits, and load of chaffinches and their even more amazingly coloured cousins, the bramblings all feeding on the sunflower seeds I scattered on the grass. Red kites and buzzards circling and 'our' pair of hobbies has arrived and making a racket - hopefully our resident house martins and swallows will soon be back, with the redstarts - watching out for them every day.

Re: I smiled because...

My little tree (the one I mention every year ) that always does it's things over night, got the buds out last night. Guess one of these mornings it will be all in white again. And someone is mowing the lawn - might even be our landlord, I'll hear it when it gets closer).

Life goes on without us.

Re: I smiled because...

Bought a large frangipani last year from Landi for 15.- - and thought it was dead. Placed it on a small table in front of a south facing window- and it is happily sprouting Will re-pot it next week and feed it - can't wait.

Re: I smiled because...

I just realised if I have to wait longer than 30 days to get my hair done again, it'll be so untidy I'll look like a (wo)man who's been in an explosion as my late dad used to say

I may have to resort to the purple punk dressing up wig I bought, OH will have to resort to his Spinal Tap mullet one

Re: I smiled because...

Ah OH has been due for one for a while- but he joked he would wait until after his BD (yesterday) - he has a Bobby Charlton now

Been working in garden all morning- emptying one of my composts - beautiful stuff, weeding, tidying, burning stuff in incinerator (no neighbours and no wind, all stuff dry as a bone)...with dog and cat as company. We have had coffee with 2 neighbours- they both brought their own coffee- I stood at my gate, and they sat 6 m apart on the grass below. Good natter and a laugh - brilliant. We are going to do this every day. As one of them said 'sinon on va tous devenir zinzin, bordel' (otherwise we will all go bonkers, f**k this).

And smiled because our 2 fields have began the amazing wild crocus show- only the white ones today, the purple will follow soon- a sight to behold and make your heart sing.

Re: I smiled because...

We had to make a quick run to a post office and saw so many flowers blooming. People respecting the quarantine made us smile, too. Loads of discipline. A US-Argentinian DJ with the most peculiar Czech accent is making me smile right now (his Czech is brilliant).
