It is a specific part of brain that you engage for motion which might push sounds to be coded in as musical sounds/noise as opposed to analytically and logically justified stuff. In brief, you learn noise as efficiently as a kid would, instead of blocking yourself by reasoning. Reasoning doesn't help since we often learn a language theoretically, by imagining situations, instead of being in a real one.

I often memorized bass lines by hand positions, too, not just sound. Piano is even easier, because it is so nicely linear.

But exercise oxygenates, too
Yes yes! Although have you heard of Wim Hof?/The Wim Hof Method? (Breathing Exercises) - I'm a massive fan and they do amazing stuff, but trying to practise Viola after them didn't seem to help much sadly. Interesting how you described the lack of 'reasoning' as a positive here, I guess it's a distraction, and we don't know the 'logics' of new things we want to learn anyway... Interesting

Wim Hof reminds me why I like to sprint every day. O2.
Our reasoning is limited though we are wired to worship it, innit. Imagine how people would feel if they realized how much we overrate reason. When you play music, the joy you get isn't rational. Intuition is better when you need to reprogram to new things. Viola would kill me, I have respect for violinists and viola players. Btw, confinement is really conducive to practicing

Re: I smiled because...

... because the swallows are back - and went straight into the barn by their little window 35cm x 35 cm - and they have been chattering all day long with the house martins, their cousins.

The barn is full of their nests- but I wonder: do they always use the same ones, or is it first come, first served??? I have asked specialists at La Salamandre wildlife magazine- and will report back when they reply.

Haha, like how you said that Yeah, the fretless thing and the bow really are a nightmare to begin with... And then still but less And yep! Haha, 6 hours practised in the last 2 days Another to the thread;

I smiled because... Practising an Instrument for hours, in an empty field on a sunny windless day is wonderful (And so much easier to practise for a long time, than doing so in a dim small room)

... and because my Corvid friend (the crow) came to eat his dog pellets (soaked in water first) when I was sitting on the kitchen steps, for the first time. His English name will be 19 - but he responds better to his french 'gamin'

... only four of the set of nine dice I cast this time are "holey"! That means there are five I can use, once I sand them down and ink the numbers ... but I may have damaged the mould for one of them, as one face is unclear this time ... :/

Re: I smiled because...

both daughters are great musicians, piano and cello for one, piano, sax, clarinet, for the number two. 'two' recently got her piano back after many many years- and due to lockdown has been practising a lot- and she got a lovely note through the door from an older neighbour she has never met - saying 'thank you for the utter joy you bring by playing the piano with the French doors open - I sit in my garden and listen to you ... etc' - how lovely.

Because we will do symphonies again. Don't know when yet, but it's ok.

A gray and rainy sky, seen over my window, I listen the song Sous le ciel de Paris, sang by Zaz, in her album Paris. It gives more joy.

This!

Thank you for sharing.

I smiled because our neighbors are being safe and symphonic in the hallway.

Re: I smiled because...

I had a jump around to Plastic Bertrand this afternoon, then I danced to YMCA. I'm smiling again because my neighbour upstairs has been playing Spanish classical guitar, now he's playing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" by Queen on another guitar and singing. He works for a pharma co in Basel, but is also a very talented musician and has all his guitars hanging on his livingroom wall

Re: I smiled because...

It looks like the colour mix on my third batch of dice will work, from the looks of the leftover resin in the mixing bowls ... now to see if the pipettes meant I actually filled all of the moulds completely with resin! Well, in a few hours when they've cured enough to come out ...
