wow good for you- tell us when you are ready

I just could not Bungy Jump, never. I have done parapenting, but bungy jump - NOOOOO.

Bungy Pump are nordic sticks with incorporated resistance- so when you walk with them, you work the whole body- and then you can use them to do all sorts of 'pumping' exercises with arms, squats, etc. Had an intro with a coach today- will practise over festivities as we are all on our lonesome this year for the first time ever - then have another intitiation afterwards and join a group.

Re: I smiled because...

I just received a Christmas present from my little big sister - a box of Aussie goodies! Still sealed, waiting for Christmas Day (as is the Aussie tradition).

Me either. No way. No how. Not ever.

I smiled today because I've got a Swiss sourced hamper coming tomorrow - and I've no idea who it is from! If I don't get one from F&M I might frown though - I've got used to those. I might have to do a microwave christmas pud , although they're actually quite delicious. Just don't look right.

Had to google parapenting, only to find it's paragliding (as I initially suspected). Lots of paragliders up along the ridge above my town, dozens of them at once on good days ... many of them catch the train to town, then take the cable car up to the top of the ridge and take off down the back, where it's more open (fewer trees for the take-off). Lovely to watch, I'd like to try it one day.

Yep, that was a direct translation from the French 'parapente'. Shall always remember my first tandem flight, at the top of Arosa.

Re: I smiled because...

... because I patted Freddy's bottom in Montreux and linked arms with Charlie in Vevey - it was a gorgeous day on the Riviera sunny and quiet warm looked quiet foggy towards Geneva.

Re: I smiled because...

Because the last work day before Xmas was in slightly strange festive masks and hats. Hope there are few of us braving really kitch Xmas outfits!

In public, I mean. Not in home-office.

I couldn't see the bridge only 100m from my window this morning. Love fog (when I'm not driving in it)!

Re: I smiled because...

... because it is 50 years today since the car my friend was driving decided to meet up with a large tree, sideways- and break in half - with me in the middle.

4.5 months in traction, 2 more breaks, 7.5 months in hospital including my 20th BD then our wedding. And we all survived- even the tree, badly scared, I drive past it often and always wave.

Re: I smiled because...

'cause my local shop called me to inform me that my new bike was ready for pick up. So I took the bus there, and drove it back home. It's a very lightweight (11kg) Cube Reaction hardtail with a carbon fibre frame (mostly for going uphill). It's VERY fast.

Re: I smiled because...

I saw a small tree at Wholefoods which is where I used to buy my Mom's Christmas tree. I made an effort every year to decorate her apartment at Christmas to cheer her up in the hopes that if we could get her past Winter, then spring and summer would be a reawakening for her and lift her spirits (she suffered from dementia - but we were fortunate for the most part, as that her condition did not diminish her attitude/spirit). That said, winters were tough for her...

Sadly, she passed away last March and it's my first Christmas without her. To be honest, my siblings and I feel fortunate that she passed when she did as she would have not understood COVID and would have felt abandoned if we did not visit (my siblings in the area visited daily).

And so, it is bittersweet for me as I miss her and our Christmas traditions with her but oddly, am grateful that she passed when she did. To quote my late, very wise Mom, "It is what it is!" Her other favorite adage was, "This too shall pass!" Words I live by...

My kids have watched a documentary about Tea ceremony in Japan and now we have to buy "proper tea cups and pots and a tatami". I'm surprised kimonos haven't been mentioned yet..
