Re: I smiled because...

A nice winter beer, this one from the UK (but bought over here, in Jelmoli - my work gave me a Christmas gift card ...). St. Peter's Winter Beer, very smooth and dark, although officially a red ale it was almost black.

genuine question. Did you call them, or did they call you? I thought they were doing over 75s first.

I gave all the details over on the vaccine thread but I’ll summarise here.

Our GP called us on Monday afternoon to say we were both considered high risk and were we interested in the Covid vaccine. They had been informed by the cantonal medical office about the planned vaccination programme on Monday morning. They had brought the start date forward from the 4th of January to the 28th of December and GPs had been asked to identify and contact their high risk patients.
We had to go in and see the GP for her to explain how the vaccine works and the risks etc which the canton is obliging everyone to do at the moment and once we agreed to proceed she said she’d forward our info to the canton and they would contact us with the details of where to go and when.
She said that due to the storage requirements for the vaccine they were only vaccinating in one or two centres and were concentrating their initial efforts on the vulnerable people who were mobile and could get themselves to the centres.

Having then read in the news that Neuchâtel had only received 250 doses of the vaccine and were prioritising the extremely vulnerable I wasn’t expecting them to contact us for quite a while.

I was therefore very surprised to receive a phone call from a very nice young man at the canton yesterday evening who asked a few questions about allergies etc. and then gave us both an appointment for next Tuesday.
We then had a nice chat about Yorkshire and the UK in general.

I didn’t even consider myself to be high risk but apparently I am due to the meds I take for my RA.

Re: I smiled because...

Two days ago, I finished to do a textual revision in dad's book that he left it before passing away. I'm amazed to read his biography 'cause in it I discovered a little of my pass and all of my family (mom, dad, sisters and brothers)
His death happened when I lived in CH, that was a moment made me so sadly to be so far from his little town, so I couldn't plan to there to see his burial.

Now, our Xmas gift is his book got textually a new revision

As here it doesn't exist snow (only some towns on South Region), it rains a lot.

Merry Christmas.

Wow, that sounds like a great gift that your father left behind. And also another wonderful gift that you have now given yourself and your family, by editing his autobiography.

Re: I smiled because...

Woke up on Christmas Day with no electricity Estimated repair time was scheduled for 11pm Christmas night. My sister-in-law showed up mid afternoon with a portable generator and extension cords as well as portable heaters. What seemed like an abysmal start to our Christmas Day, ended up being a really great family experience (not to say I would want this to happen again...lol ).

We played card games in the morning in lieu of watching tv or being on the internet (a refreshing change)! Now that the tv and internet reception has been restored, my sons are beyond happy to watch NBA games. Amazing what one takes for granted.

Our electricity repair has just been postponed until tomorrow night at 11pm but we will be fine. What an adventure today has been though! Thank God for Chinese restaurants being open for delivery on Christmas; our original Christmas dinner will have to wait but at least our refrigerator works now. It's the little things in life which make all the difference.

Merry Christmas to you all!

Lots of fluffy, sparkly snow, and bright sunshine and blue skies.

Got a bad cold, so will perhaps just wrap up warm and just go for short walk with doggie.
