Re: I smiled because...

Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I had surgery, chemo and radiation. Each January, I have a week of diagnostic fun where I have mammography, oncologist visits and a gyn/surgery consult. And i‘m happy to report that I still remain “no evidence of disease”, woo-freakin-hoo.

So that makes me smile.

I smiled today because my beautiful daughter has landed a job at Lindt as an Automation technician and I'm very proud of her!

Re: I smiled because...

Three ten-year old lads rang our doorbell and asked if we wanted them to clear the snow from our drive. They didn't want any payment, they were super polite. And they've done a good job.

My daughter had just finished baking some biccies, so we gave them some. And they thanked us.

Re: I smiled because...

After 5 months out of work, my daughter was offered a great job/position in Philadelphia. It has been quite the slog for her - punctuated by many ups/downs and uncertainty (as I am sure it has been for so many). She is "over the moon" and cannot wait to start

Re: I smiled because...

Saw a recipe that looked tasty. Using Pak-Choi. Never heard of it. Yeah, right, I thought, I won't run across town to the Asian shop for that and scrachted the idea.
Looking for something in "my little" Migros today, there was - Pak-Choi!

Don't know what people complain about Switzerland, even Migros sells stuff, some of us never heard of before. Or was it just me cosmically attracting it. (over night, what a magically efficient supply chain that would be )

Re: I smiled because...

lovely walk up above, almost all green bar the very well groomed XC ski runs- with quite a few skiers, both classical and skating, in strong sunshine. Birds singing like crazy and red kites flirting and soaring.

Of course that doesn't mean the stuff is rare or special.

Even Lidl has been selling Pak Choi for ages.

It is getting better though!

Re: I smiled because...

Stopped at one of those stalls where you can buy flowers on trust, by depositing the money in the cash-box. As it was towards the end of the day, the owner happened to be there, clearing up. I paid him for two bunches and he gave me a third! Now I have five slender vases of tulips, all filled with promise.
