... why do people who come in for a Loto almost always look like they've just been unearthed, you know dug up from a grave or something.

I guess every village has their village zombies and some seem to show up regularly at the local Loto events.

Re: I smiled because...

I smiled today because I visited a farm and petted a calf who acted almost exactly like a dog. (I promise I didn't whisper "Veal, veal!" in the sweet thing's furry tagged ears.) Bought some apples and onions from the farmer's store and enjoyed a brisk walk home in the sun.

I smiled because I had a great time at the Rappi brewery and met some lovely people and I had a lovely Easter Sunday.

Re: I smiled because...

... I found a UK supermarket stocking Fribourg Vacheron, Cave-aged Gruyere and Raclette. Only occasionally found all three previously in some delis and specialist shops. No more withrawal symptoms now

I smile because I just arrived from an awesome trip to Istanbul!
And Basel embrace with with sun and warmth. Although I already miss Istanbul, it's great to be back!

Re: I smiled because...

I smiled - and am still smiling - because I had a lovely Easter Weekend, including taking part in a very moving Kreuzweg on Friday; spending all Saturday in the company of some of the most lovely people in Switzerland; enjoying a storming good Easter service at church; bacon, egg and chips at the Odeon, spare ribs at Papa Joe's; a lazy Monday in bed, culminating in a "twenty minute stroll" that turned into a ten kilometer walk through the flower-strewn fields of the Zurich Oberland, ending at a cosy Stube in Hombrechtikon.

And the sun is still shining!

Could it get any better?

Re: I smiled because...

I had a great smile today and a laugh that brought tears to my eyes! I was in the Clinique Cecil, having lunch with my boss, and I have noticed that when I eat certain foods, mostly cheese, I can't breathe through my nose (perhaps an allergy). I asked her if the Swiss put preservatives in their food. A look of shock and horror came over her face. I looked back at her dumbfounded. Her face went red, and she started to giggle. She asked if the food was bad, and I replied that it was quite good and very affordable. THEN....she started to laugh and told me I had asked her if the Swiss put condoms in their food. I turned as red as a Mexican sun, and then I couldn't stop laughing. All the staff in the cafeteria looked at us as we laughed like little kids. Hhmmmmm....does that mean I had "safe dining" today?! Regardless, I have laughed all day about it.

Re: I smiled because...

LOL! What made me smile today was watching a father play Simon Says with his son on the bus and never losing patience no matter how long the kid wanted to play it. I love watching fathers with their kids being real fathers.

Smiled because I ran into two members of the English Forum in Kuala Lumpur on Saturday. It was surreal.

I smiled today because I started a new fitness routine.

I am going to be in sooo much pain tomorrow, but God it feels good.
