Re: I smiled because...

On the train from Bex to Villars today, a student served the passengers slices of the bread she'd made at school! Later on, I also saw my very first ant hill on my walk through the forest. It was impressive!

Re: I smiled because...

I haven't stopped smiling since yesterday evening. Life has dealt me a trump card for a few days and it's amazing. Can't sleep for being so happy and excited but I don't mind one bit as it means I get to watch a thunderstorm unleashed in the distance from a balcony on the 28th floor and smell the humid, tropical air. Right here, right now, life is better than good...

I'm smiling because I finally got access to my (our!) own kitchen and prepared a delicious dinner of baked salmon and noodles.

Mmmm!

...because I found a new way to get to work.

Bahnhof Stadelhofen, you now have a rival in my architectural affections - for at least as long as this heat wave holds.

Ok, there seems to be quite a few threads about various disadvantages about so I'm going to be sickeningly cute and cuddly and suggest a thread where you can all tell us about the last thing that made you smile and maybe make others smile too. It's not all bad and life is absolutely too short. Go out, play in the sunshine, feed some ducks, smell the flowers and so on. Then, tell us about what made you smile.

And the last thing that made me smile is stumbling upon my reputation and seeing the lovely comments people took the trouble to make. Thank you!

your avatar :-)

Re: I smiled because...

when, after the nineteenth consecutive ' but why' from my four year old son, finally answering 'why not?' instead of trying to explain the reason for everything (ok, he'd stumped me, I didn't know the answer to the eighteenth and couldn't explain why I didn't know), he stopped, looked up at me and pointed out 'that's not a question'

Kids are so goddamn smart, they see through all the bull$h!t in the world. It's such a shame that they are corrupted by marketing men and advertising executives...

Re: I smiled because...

my elderly Swiss neighbour, who recently had a back operation rang at my door and said how much I had helped her. I couldn't even think what she was talking about. It seems that my explanation of what she was doing to her spine every time she bent down to pick something off the floor, now meant that she sticks to the doctor's rules and doesn't do it any more.

My explanation? I am the world's worst glue-er. Nothing ever sticks for me as I simply HAVE to take it apart to see if it has stuck yet - even instant, one second glue is not as fast as I am. And that, according to me, was what she was doing to her back when she bent over - tearing the tissues apart before they have had a chance to stick/heal.

Two happy neighbours.

Mine asked when Children's day was. I told him eveyday was Children's day.
The International Children's day has always been June 1st, kids back home have free access to fun places and get gifts. Just so you know...

I smiled because my child saw some sappy romance kiss on tv and then she came to me and pressed her nose into my mouth, thinking she has been giving us wrong kisses all this time..Kids are lovely.
