...because the Gemeinde-lady signed and stamped a bit of paper for me, handed it back with a smile and didn't charge me anything.

Things that make you smile in Switzerland

I like the toiletries range in Denner called "Jovial" (always makes me smile) and discovered at the weekend that fishfingers are called "Cracksticks". Equally amusing.

What things make you smile here?

Just my little girls having their first proper snow ball fight with me and my father at the weekend.

Re: Things that make you smile in Switzerland

It made me smile yesterday in 20min where they were talking about if the Swiss have a sense of humor or not. I think the essence was that the Swiss like laughing but their sense of humor is not so developed. As if we didn't know

Re: Things that make you smile in Switzerland

It makes me smile, that on a thread about "what makes you smile in Switzerland" there are only half-a**ed answers, except the one where the OP clearly states her fascination with some discount toiletries.

Re: I smiled because...

something that often tickles me is not so much the traditional, but the typical swiss breakfast. or at least that of anyone below the age of about 30. anyone who catches an s-bahn to work in zurich during their morning commute is surely acquainted with said breakfast: a fag and a can of redbull (or migros budget energy drink). they may also have treated themselves to an espresso before boarding the train, so that when they inevitably burp, us fellow passengers are greeted with a devastating marriage of smells that makes you want to wet-heave.
